Hey all
Just going to post a few pictures and i would greatly appreciate any feedback on them, ill say a little about them all so you know what im aiming for.
First up is my space wolf long fang missile launcher, my main gripe atm is wether i like the weapon or not, im going for a very dark and gritty look hence the thick wash, just wanted some peoples opinions on it (also if you have any pictures you could share of your own missile launchers that would be ace! something to work off of.)

It looks good, at first glance I didn't like it but upon closer inspection it looks like you did a good job on the weathering.

This is my rune priest, again continuing to go for a gritty look, i ran out of some parts so he is partially grey knight marine, however i liked how that came out, i like the sash and the feeling he is a little cleaner and bit more together and not so primal... being that he is a psyker... Also i made the weapon myself to look like the one from the codex (i think it came out alright)
Again please lend your thoughts and comments to a fellow hobbyist looking to improve himself.

I like the treatment, but I think the colour is wrong. Too much red for the colour pallete, but it's your call after all. Space wolves pallete for me is grey/blues yellows and reds but the yellow and red should take a back seat. Either that, or use less red would work for me.
I paint Dark Angels and I've started doing (on my dev squad at least) part of the casing of the guns white/cream to contrast with the darker colours.

For the Lion and Terra!
Because nothing in the galaxy is black and white, Mankind views the Space Marines as a last resort. The last line. When all else fails. They take up the burden. The noble defenders of Mankind. The last hope.
With finecast you can bypass the washing stage and throw them straight into the bin.
Or cut out the middleman and just flush some money down the toilet.

Not digging the lack of detail, to be honest it looks like an unfinished model, but the colors turned out nicely, and has a good worn look.

Thanks, im going to add some scratches of paint tonight if i get the chance too. maybe as if a blade went against it in close combat at some point
I really want to post a few pictures of models i made yesterday they are quite funny while still being serious but i don't want a mate to see them just yet... sorta a secret in the way of tabletop gaming Automatically Appended Next Post: Shenloanne wrote:I like the treatment, but I think the colour is wrong. Yeah i hate yellow with all my might (previous imperial fist painter ) and i thought blue or grey would definately not suit the weapon, perhaps if i gave it a more vigorous wash? darken it up even more?
Ty for your comment

Alright, I apologize for being brutal but I hope you find everything useful.
You need a larger color palette, leadbelcher as a base, for edges use runefang steel and dry brush. Its a cheap effective way that looks good when done correctly.
The missle launcher guy really needs his beard finished. Your off to a solid start with what looks like a varnish as well. Using a water paint mix of lighter blues and dry brush again with darker blues in the cracks.
Add more techniques as needed but I recomend dry brushing as a start for anyone that wants to improve it truelly teaches people how to understand to paint crevices and nooks with ease.

This is the unfinished section of the post your pictures on this forum
It's very unfinished, just looking for some feedback regarding bits of models at this point, i'd like it if my next step was to correct things as i go rather than foul a whole model and have to start from scratch. A brutual response... sound the guards! heh, no man all good, i enjoyed reading your comment.
you'll have to excuse my lack of knowledge based around recent paint changes, are you saying boltgun metal as a base and mithril silver as a dry brush?, if so i'll follow up with the worry in my head, a lot of the model will already be in similar colors when i am done, i was afraid that it might not look as good if its all like that... i do have a spare missile launcher, maybe ill paint up the 2 and compare them and show you all.
yeah his beard is not done yet, i leave those bits til the end of a models painting job the face is actually just washed too, not one bit of varnish on him.
Thanks for your reply. you took the time to write it all out and for that i am thankful.

Don't do boltgun metal directly to mithril silver...that's too much of a transition and it will look unnatural. Do boltgun metal to chainmail to mithril silver

I would really just go on youtube and look up the very basics of how to paint a miniature. It looks like you have learned a few of the basics like undercoating and washing but you need to learn to highlight. Also you really need to add more color to your model. Pick out different parts of the model and paint them a different color. Paint all the metal parts a metallic color and paint all the raised armor parts a black or white or what ever. Just give a clear division between one section to the next.
Also if it is your first time painting copy someone elses paint scheme. Google how to paint ________ and there will be articles and videos on how to paint just about every model there is. Find a scheme you like and copy it. Learn why they are putting different colors were and learn how to do techniques like highlighting. It is a lot easier to learn to paint by copying someone else because they will tell you what colors you need and how to use them. Once you learn what you are looking for when you are painting you can start picking your own schemes and trying them out.

As stated several times this is a WIP model, its not even close to being finished i was just looking for some feedback on the weapon or part. your post was really unnecessary and quite cruel and you made a lot of assumptions so im going to just ignore the lot of it, everyone else seems to understand alright...

A good trick with ML's and gun barrels etc. is to paint boltgun and wash with badab black or equivalent, then at the end of the barrel wash with blue ink then purple then sepia, it makes it appear burnt with the heat of discharge you can also do a fine metal highlight on the very edges to show where it's burnt clean too, it's very quick and easy to do and makes them look quite practical.

That color scheme looks just like mine. I went with Shadow Grey, painted the details, and 2 coats of Devlin Mud (dip method). Not even gonna bother with highlighting as I want a very dark, battle worn out look for my wolves.

Thanks for the small tutorial not one ive heard or seen before, Automatically Appended Next Post: spacewolf407 wrote:That color scheme looks just like mine. It's a good gritty look, and doesnt take too much time to acomplish a nice set of models, which is great because despite caring what my models look like i rather not infact paint them and instead just play a lot of games.
