Hello DakkaDakka !

First of all, a brief introduction...
I've been lurking around for a few months now and decided it's time for me to enter the arena. I'm the kind of guy who was in the hobby a while ago and who was told that he would probably never come back...well, it's a fail.
I'm really glad to be back in the hobby. I've always been interested by the painting/modeling stuff more than the game...in fact, that's not true...I was interested by the game itself, but I was so slow with so many different projects that I never finished an army that would allow me to play.
I'm still slow today lol, but now I know what I want and I really intend to complete this army.

Let's talk about this project. It consists of an IG Army with allies (Deathwatch killteam at this time). IG Army is focused on veterans (to give them a more "Special Forces" look and background). I'm trying to convert each model to give them a unique look. I'm mainly using bits (SM scouts, cadians, FW stuff,...). As for the Deathwatch, I discovered the "artscale style" recently and truly loved it. I think the standard GW SM are too small...they need to be bigger !

Less talk, more pics.
Keep in mind that everything is still WIP and needs a lot of work (greenstuff mainly). None of these are ready to be painted.

IG HQ.

Lord Commissar.

Commanding Officier.

Standard Bearer.

Random Officiers (first one is my favorite).

I'm also working on an Ogryn (but I don't know if it'll be part of the final Army).

IG Troops (count as veterans).

Flamer.

Sgt.

Gunner.

"RIP bro".

Medic.

Random troopers.

Sniper squad. I really hate ratlings so...I made my shooters a little bit more...well...less "ratlings".

Deathwatch. Yes, just two marines at this time (still WIP...like the rest of the Army).

Stay tuned.
C&C are welcome !

NB : Sry if my English isn't perfect.

Well a very impressive first post no doubt about it!

Every model is fantastic, all the little details not to mention the dramatic poses really set them apart. If I were to pick a favorite it would have to be the running and shooting trooper, although everything is so good that I am still undecided.

Welcome to Dakka! Stick around, I will be keeping a close eye on this army...

Really good conversions, every one tells a little story. i love it.

Wow, God-tier converting skills. Your army definitely ranks as one of my favorite Imperial Guard armies I've ever seen, so much character it blew my mind. The 2 Deathwatch Marines also rank as some of my favorite Marines. Really great work all around, 10/10 would husband (no homo?). Sub'd.

Also strongest 1rd post I've ever seen on Dakka

What a beautiful set of models. There is nothing im not seriously impressed with.

Also im stealing these.

This officer means business, i just gotta know where you got the sword from.

This is the face every Guardsmen with a flamethrower should have.

And this is one of the greatest posed guardsmen i've ever seen.

Keep it up mate, I look foward to seeing much more of your army.

First of all, thank you all for your welcome !

Color Sgt. Kell wrote:Very nice! I like it a lot. What will the guards color scheme be?

Well that's a good question lol. I'm still thinking about it. Since I want my IG to have a close background to the Inquisition, I may go for something...dark. Wait n see.
At this time I'll stay focused on the modeling part, then I'll trye some different scheme on test models.

Thanks, I'm really glad you're pointing this, that's exactly what I wanted to highlight !

Jarl Marius wrote:wow, im realy impressed, where did you get a lot of that bits, they dont seem familiar

Thanks, as I said before, I'm using a ton of different bits. For example the IG are made of SM Scout legs, FW heads, weapons, arms (renegade too),...
Feel free to ask about any model, I'll try to describe it the best I could.

Alleton wrote:very excellent work! are all the heads GW? I don't recognize several of them.

Indeed, I'm not only using GW heads. For the IG HQ, I'm using standard IG heads with the officer cap (pretty easy to do).
As for the troops I used mainly IG heads, Scout heads and FW heads.
For the snipers, I used Anvil Industry head for the most (you can find these on ebay). They are great but you need to rework the neck and the IG torso a bit since they are designed for GW SM.

Smitty wrote:Snrub, the sword is from the baneblade commander.

Thanks Snrub ! Exactly, it's the sword from the baneblade commander, with an IG shoulder pad.

Once again, thank you all, it's very motivational !
Stay tuned for the next episode.

I was pretty uninterested with everything until I saw the space marines. Definately the best space marines I have seen. Ever. Waiting to see those goremongers painted.

This is why I am seriously thinking about dropping my 23 love of marines , IG models just seem so much more expressive and posable...

not to say there wont be a small contingent of Marines in there , but for an IG army , I just think they get way cooler stuff now...

most of these though are extensively converted, nothing you couldn't do with space marines and the patience. More to the point, marines are more forgiving because there's so little musculature to sculpt. For the most part it's 90% armor. These will make a glorious army, but only after all of the cleaning, gap filling and green stuffing. It's the very reason why I cringed and abstained from doing everything OP did because I simply can't do that. I've got 5 necrons with custom heads, that are 30% finished, and have been at that stage for a year now, simply because I'm terrified of the rest of the job

is the reason why I think I might try something , its just I think so much more dynamic that a Marine . It looks more like a warrior than a man in a tin can....

so much more expressive with the pose too..
