Fresh from their Facebook news page, Kingdom Death will be launching a Kickstarter on Nov. 23rd. Given the superb quality of their minatures so far, I can see this one being very popular, and I'm all in before its even kicked off! I can only assume that 'Monsters', will be their eagerly anticipated game launch. We can only wait to see what goodies will be produced for us!

Adam Poots was kind enough to answer me some questions about his KS-plans via Email: Interview with Adam Poots about the Kingdom Death Kickstarter

I am also looking forward to this one a lot.

Sounds interesting, although im wondering how exactly they will be able to get away with a KS campaign. From what i've seen the Kingdom Death range has some very NSFW models. I guess they could just feature lots of pictures of their tame miniatures, and include the more 'extreme' stuff as either written text or external images.

The overall timing of the campaign is pretty poor IMO, launching and finishing during a major holiday season where most people will be spending their spare money on gifts and food (And other Christmas/religion related stuff.) might have a negative effect on how much money the campaign can reach.

I hope that, in the Kingdom Death tradition, the Kickstarter only lasts 2 hours.

1) I am really looking forward to this one - maybe I'll actually be able to get the models I want from them before they are 'sold out' again?

2) Given what happened to Tentacle Bento, I hope they pick their sculpts carefully!

3) And now a game based around their miniatures? Excellent! I just hope they make all their miniatures available for more than the aforementioned 2 hours!

And I hope that in the tradition of your country, Free Speech is allowed and Kingdom Death can release whatever they want rather than having to shut down on the whims of protestors who allow one thing, but then argue the toss when something else doesn't follow their dictations.

I do think given the Christmas season, their timing is a little off, but, I'm in!

Much as I love the figures I suspect I can't afford another KS

oh well I'll have to wait and see what the options are (and there is always ebay)

I don't think Tentacle Bento got shot down because of their visuals.

*sigh* Troll Forge made me break my decision to not buy any more miniatures this year... now KD is going to make me do it again.

That's awesome (although he was as ever evasive). I will be watching with interest. I love the "beyond the wall" model and am sure some KS ones will be jaw dropping.

Cute.

But I'm pretty sure the "Wet Nurse" model would stimulate the same Outrage Nerve that got people all hot and bothered about TB too.

Looking forward to this one but the timing could be better not a great idea to run it so close to Christmas/holiday season - from reading the interview it looks like the KS is for mostly new sculpts for the actual game and a lot of the more controversal stuff won't feature until much nearer the end if everything else is funded so not much time to get shut down if people raise objections

Very surprised, pleasantly at that, to see a Kingdom Death KS. Cannot wait for the madness to start.

True. But that is also one of the most extreme sculpts out there... even for KD.

It'll be interesting to see if it'll have things along the line of The Illuminated Lady or some of the Pin-Up models.

A "Pin-Up pledge level" could prove both popular and a potential problem depending on Kickstarter's policy on (plastic) boobies. The Brom Kickstarter went through fine with the odd nipple flashing. So here's to hoping.

The Tentacle Bento got flak (incl. from powerful lobby-groups like Amnesty) for it's embrace of sexual assault, not specifically any issue with nudity.

But yes, it'll be worth watching for another likely example of the "Dragon Age 2" (possibly NSFW pic spoilered below) paradox in public perception being on display if KD goes outside of Kickstarter's comfort zone.

The models will be "out of stock" long before then.

Now THAT is a funny picture!

And you're right, it will be interesting to see what boundaries (if any) get pushed here...

The Tentacle Bento incident was blown way of proportion (imho). I don't see that being an issue here because there's no rape, just nudity, genital-shaped monstrosities, BDSM and violence. Good wholesome stuff compared to that Soda Pop Miniature trash of being an octopus monster capturing girls.

Anyway, there are other Kickstarters that have nudity so I don't think this one will get pulled for it. A Pin-Up level would be nice depending on how their whole system is tiered, and I imagine would make buttloads of cash especially if offered at a KS discount. Most excited about, as Alpharius pointed out, actually being able to purchase models from Kingdom Death. I've been trying to give them my money, but they don't seem to want it!

(Disclaimer: Don't actually consider SPM or Tentacle Bento trash, was being sarcastic. Feels like I need to state that explicitly in this case, just to be safe.)

I would reallllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllly

Really

REALLY

Rather talk about Kingdom Death and their exciting new game / kickstarter, than rehash the whole Soda Pop Tentacle Bento drama.

Hopefully when there is something to see (in a week?) we can talk about what matters- the sculpts, the game rules, the universe/background, etc.

I have two Kingdom death minis. Absolutely beautiful scuplts and molds.

To be fair, I was considering moving on and selling them, as they have not had a real purpose (other than to taunt my modest painting skills). But, for them to have a game finally coming out, and for it to be COOPERATIVE is my than I could ask for.

Poor, poor credit card.

I had picked up the Flower Knight, and thought it looked amazing! However, I ended up selling it because the taller scale (32mm?) meant I couldn't really use it for anything else, and of course it was impossible to count on getting any of the models with how fast they sold out.

But with them (one would think) all being available through the Kickstarter, I can see them doing very well!

Personally, I probably won't be pledging... I have sworn off Kickstarter through the end of the year. But I will be window shopping

In the traditions of our country, Free Speech will entitle anyone and everyone to bitch and complain to no end whatsoever about whatever they want to complain about. Kingdom Death can take the criticism however they want, but presumably they're not 8-year-olds who will somehow fold under the pressure of internet complaining (which is about as harmful as being hit with a wet noodle).

That would be nice, but that all depends on the miniatures involved, I'd think.

Given what some of their 'monsters' look like and what their implied actions are... we'll see!

And perhaps when idly musing on tradition of other countries, you might firstly learn that capitalization in "free speech" is mostly a matter of being "Freely Obnoxious" and perhaps a bit " Pompously Speaking" but not much anything of use, secondly remember that while free speech indeed should protect nearly anything not a concrete threat, direct exhortation to unlawful acts against others or straight-up libel, unconditionally, it has always been understood to be protection against the government or semi-governmental actors and thirdly that this last bit is there more than anything because while you certainly have your "free speech" rights to say whatever you like, I have my "free speech" rights to, for example, disagree vocally or instead choose to not broadcast or in any way not legally required of me aid you in that speech - and so does every free person and company under that rule of "free speech".

...Even kickstarter, however entitled some whiny little snots, lacking even the few brain cells required to correctly remember the definition of censorship, may feel.

While I certainly do *not* agree with KS's decision to pull the TB project, I'll bloody well defend their right to do so, just as it is my right to not in any way aid the expression of either neo-nazi sentiments or those making the case for hate-crime legislation (//still a toss-up which of those I despise more, really, at least neo-nazis make can me laugh sometimes )

@Secret Squig: i think you misread Ouze's intent with the comment, mate...
i read it as a reference to how fast the minis sell out on the website everytime there is a new release...

i hope this does well...
i had always heard that Adam meant to rerelease all the LE minis for the game set, which is why i never rushed to get any...
we'll see what happens...

cheers

I have four. Expensive and worth every single penny. I'd stop bitchin' about GW if their stuff was this high caliber.
