It's not so much the process because I can paint non metallics, but for reds. It's a choice of color that bugs me, I really don't know what colors to use to get a deep red for his hand cannon. Here he is at the moment.

His sabre is non metallic which I've never done to a weapon, so here it is, still lots of work to be done.

Good Job on Uncle Joe.,

I'd try to use a dark brown base dry brush a silver and than glaze a dark red over it, should work.

Man I need to pull mine out and finish him already.
