Hello I wanted to post some pictures of my dark eldars. any comments will be aprechiated! I though posting here would be a good way to get me more motivated for painting, so please: Chipp in with opinions or comments.

I have a tyranid, space wolves, dark eldar and khemri (fantasy) armies. However, I wnated to become a better painter. Produsing better results faster. While my tyranids are OK, I feel I failed a bit when picking the colour scheme. I could never settel for a colour on my DE so I was hoping to learn with them.

I found inspiration in this guilde (a very talented mediator): http://itslikewatchingpaintdry.blogspot.ca/2012/05/dark-eldar-kabalite-warriors-finished.html

Here are the pictures of my warriors. I painted opon my old scheme but had no problems with the layers this new scheme aplied. As you can see on the colour circle I am using a bluish green as my main colour (the highlight from the dark eldar colour range from GW) and complementing it with An orangy yellow (the gold) and a magenta colour (hair and sashes). I did not come up with this scheme as it is Mr. Watching paint dry and possible GW(?) but since the two colours are just as far away from the green on the colour wheel and quite close to it's oposet (an orangy colour) it really ads a lott of 'pop' while being in a grimm dark eldar theme.

The last picture I added because as you see this colour scheme from far away you can still make out some of the bright details on the dark model. I have found that far to many basecoat their models with black and then paint a dark colour scheme on top resolting in models that look very dark indeed. I think it is important to use the whole specter from black to white, or very bright on each model (I know white might be hard to work in, but I do have the shases bright and the gold is also bright.)

also, at the bottom is my colour scheme in the colour wheele.

These are my wytches done in the same colour scheme. The armour on the right side makes them stand out. (For some reason it reminds me of Jeff Koons Michael Jackons and Bubbel statue, included at the bottom.)

The wytches are currently on their 3rd colour scheme as you can se the details are quite gone in the face. I could not be bottered to buy new once, I am figuring they will turn out fine once they are done. I tryed stripping some but it did not work. I am currently trying to do it to some other models that where worse off. I will try to get these finished more later on. Currently I want to get things painted fast, and leave some details off.

These are my beast handelers. I am using vampier count frenzied vampiers as razorwing flock (I do not like the 4 birds and they are expsnesive) As the khymara I am using dire wolves. The handeler with the wolves has the chains under his board and the one with the wings has the razorwings. (Who odly enough do not have the swarm rule.) I am thinking of adding something more to them but I do not know what. The original once have masks on them...

These pictures did not come out OK...I will try to do some others later on. The colour scheme I am gonne use on these is the green that the warriors are using and contrast it with orange that is on the oposet end of the scale. Currently I am on the darkest part of the green so right now they look like dark angels.

The end colours will be:

Skinn: The dark eldar blue green
Visible flesh: Orange
Bone parts: Bone coloured (a white/orangy colour)
Hair/mane: Will be white. For the dogs that have skulls in the hair I cannot decide if I want ghostly skulls (white/blue) or actual skulls (bone).

The reason I am doing the colours different on these is because the rest of my army will be in the standar colours, but I am planing on having a 405 point "deathstar" with 15 khymara, 4 razorwingflocks, 5 beastmasters and the baron. I want it to stand out. I do belive the white help a lott.

These I am very very happy with! My razorwing flocks!

They are very white. Actualy they are undercoated with the dakr grey base colour (mechanicus standar grey.) Then I added a blend of kabalite green and sybarite green with wild rider red. Those colours make grey as they are complementary colours and I ended up on the sligtly brown side of the grey (more orange) Then I wet brushed on top and did more and more layers adding more white for ecah time. I think I did it twice or three times. Also the wings a brown with a similar blent brown/grey colour as the highlight and washed with Reikland fleshshade. The bones are the bone colours sufgested by GW: Death World forrest, sandi dust and the screaming skull shall be added later on.

I made a mistake as GW sugestion is Zandri Dust, Seraphim Sepia, Ushabti Bone, Screaming Skull. There is no reason using two bases.

On the bases I am thinking of having the mechanicus standar grey, with a wash of the orange/grey brown warm and highligted with helion green.

Well, the colour scheme is pretty solid. You definitely selected the right colours. The only thing to do now is improve the painting.

Try a bit of layering and edge highlighting, rather than just drybrushing everything. A wash or two couldn't hurt either.

Thank you for the remark, there was one other also who asked me how I paint the models. He told me there was a huge room for improvement.

I start by basecoating it black, and then I paint all of that miniature with Incubi Darkness. Then from I wetbrush the parts that can be seen if you look at it from above with Kabalite Green. And then I paint the shoulderhight and up with Sybarite green. (Getting a gradual lighter model as it comes closer to the top of the model, aka, the lightsource.) Then I drybrush the model with Hellion Green drybrush. Some of the warriors (the earlie once) I have a wash of Coelia Greenshade to tie them better together.

Then I paint the gold in baltasar gold, and then highlight with the old yellow hold from the old GW series.

The metal got ledbelcher on them followed by a shade of Agrax Earthshade.

The Pink parts got Screamer Pink, a wash of Carrobourgh Crimson and the blodletter glase. It was then highlighted with pink horror. The hair had a 3rd layer of pink horror with white in it.

The skin is Rakarth Flesh, Leviathan Purple wash, Reikland Fleshshade (in two seperate layers) and Pallid Wych Flesh on top. The eyes are skull white.

I thought that it would do fine until I get all the models done. After thet it will be more washes and highlights I belive. I would apreciate advices though.

Just trying something. I think my camera takes pictures with to high resolution (they look really odd here on dakka dakka, I do think they get compressed?) Also, I need to be abel to circle a picture as with aces to only paint I do not know how to get "negative colours" (I need to find the oposing matching colours.

Edit: I tjhought I could invert it in the web browser by selecting it, but that did not work. However, I did find a program that did it. If i blend two opposing colours I can now make grey. Yay.

Edit: I think I can se what I did wrong when painting thekhymera. I thought orange would be the opposet colour, but I was wrong. (Odd that the gold fits so well in the colour scheme then.)

It is back to the drawing board for the colour scheme for my khymara. I do hope they can stand another coat of paint (the mane on my test model is getting quite thick)
