This infantry regiment is my new project I just started.
After painting some Space Marines (Ultarmarines and Deathwatch http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/images-66649-30456_Deathwatch.html) I now switched to Imperial Guard and decided to use the Cadian models as basis.

The regiment is from the planet Thanatos. The name is from the greek mythology and was the name of the god of death. His symbol was the scythe so the banner of the regiment contains the reaper as you can see on my avatar.
The main colors of the regiment are black and yellow.

In the novel "Know no fear" the landspeeder is used as heavy weapon platform for foot troops. When I read this I thought about my landspeeder storm still available form the mega box last year.
In combination with the heavy bolters I still had from the IG Valkure I decided to use the storm as a heavy weapon platform too, but this time for the Imperial Guard.

I used the legs from the scout pilot and added some cadian torso on top. One gun man should hold the heavy bolter in his hands, the other should use some binoculars to look for the next target.
My first approach was to also equip the speeder with the missle launcher pod from the valkure but I skipped this later.

HQ - Colonel van Dyke - WIP
For my HQ unit of the regiment I want to make some special conversions.
My first thought was on the leader Colonel van Dyke and I decided to give him a bike. Why should IG not be able to ride bikes too ;-)

So I used a Space Marine Scout bike as basis and added the parts from the IG Command Unit box. As I lately read a tutorial on how to create fur cloaks I decided to give him one and I think for my first attempt it looks quite ok.

Here some impressions of the work in progress.

Here is a model I stumbled over and found it a must have
This is not a GW model as you for sure already have noticed but I have to buy it as i saw it. I'm thinking about using her as commissar for my IG army or maybe as inquisitor. By the way, I think her name should be Olga!

Here is the next member of the HQ, the medic. I gave him a Space Marine trike and modified it a little bit to enable it to carry a barrow for injured comrades.

Nice loving the blood stained stretcher.

Back after some time off with the family I managed to finish the Medic Bike but I'm still struggling a bit with the biker.

The next member of the HQ unit will be a Vox caster trike. Therefore I added a Forgeworld communiction unit (antennas still missing) and a battery pack to the trike. The vox soldier will be placed before the trike on the base and be connected to the communication unit.

Trike and rider now ready for base coating!

The rest of the bikes for the HQ is still WIP, but I managed to finish a 10 men guard squad,

This is certaintly looking promoising. I shall be watching.

Your Vox bike looks nice.
The size of the vox on there reminds me of the US Army commo piece the FHMux (Fu Mux), the frequency hopping multiplexer. Its used to get multiple radio signals to 1 radio using only 1 antenna instead of multiple antenna, making the vehicle look less HQ, and not as important of a target.

I just finished the guard sniper for one of the bikes and I'm heavily working on his bike to get it finished, which will leave me only two more to go
It shows more and more to me that my real favorit in the hobby is the conversion work and not the painting. I'm sooooooo slow :-)

I managed to finish two more bikes which leaves me one more bike and one rider. Hope to get this finished over the weekend

I'm particularly curious about the Land speeder - have you given any thoughts as to rules for it, or are you modeling for the sake of it? I have considered making some for my Tallarn Guard, but I struggle with the rules part (That is, unless I ally with Space Marines...)

Thanks for your feedback. To be honest I never played any W40K games yet...for me "the hobby" is the modelling. I like the W40K universum and the fluff. And this is what brought me to the Landspeeder conversion as in this novel I mentioned in the beginning they used it just as heavy weapon platform. A bunch of renegades (men not space marines) was strifing around searching for enemies. And as support they had this speeder with a heavy weapon. So maybe you can ask your opponents to get the speeder count as HW team? And if you are lucky you might change the rules for moving as you are no longer on feet. I don't think a man can drive a speeder like a space marine because of the reflexes needed when hovering with great speed, but in slow speed this should work also for normal humans :-)

Need to do something different than bikes, so I pick the bunker, I had purchased shortly after the GW release. This is something really good for two evenings of work.

As I do not like metal minis very much I decided to create my own ogryns based on the plastic ogres from WHFB.
This guy is my first try and I thought he should not be alone....maybe a "dog" could be a suitable friend for him :-) I mean, an ogryn should be strong enough to hold this fell warg!

The ogre is still waiting for priming so I worked some more on my Salamander command vehicle.

I managed to finish the Salamander command vehicle converted from a chimera. Maybe I add a soldier later, standing at the gun, maybe....

What is that Gatling gun from? It looks great alongside your bunker, and the Thanatos 109 color scheme is simply, yet precise. I like it, and I will be following this thread.

The Gatling gun is from the Land Raider Crusader/Redeemer and the "base" is from the Aegis defence line. I plan to use the AA gun delivered with it on another model.

I made some progress with the Ogryn and his pet dog, but the Ogryn is still to be finished.

tata...here it is, my first Ogryn with his pet dog. I think every imperial commander would be happy to have them as bodyguards....."look out sir!"
