This is my first submission on here, please be honest and open with opinions and tips. I really want to get better at painting. This is a rune priest in terminator armor. I used a black spray primer, the fang gray base, then a few layers of washing with citadel oil black wash and longbeards gray dry brushing. Detail work done with an enamel gold and scar white for the white details. Basing was static grass flock and citadel snow layered. Please let me know what you think and what to improve, thank you.

What primer color did you use?

Every Dakkanaught gets a 4+ Pinch of Salt save.
When you suffer a Falling Sky hit, roll a D6 - on a 4+ the hit is ignored as per the Pinch of Salt save. On a 1-3 panic insues - you automatically fail common sense tests for the next 2 weeks and get +7 to your negativity stat. -Praxiss

It's hard to do a proper drybrush on flat surfaces like a power armor or terminator armor. You should not really drybrush them, but edge highlight them. You get a much smoother finish like that. The model looks ok, but could be a lot better. Some of the details have been left unpainted and some are just a bit untidy. Still a nice first submission. Keep at it! Practice makes perfect or atleast better

It's a good first submission, my first model... let's not go there ><

To improve some stuff, try to look up which parts they painted in which colours (on the website or in the codex) and try to do the same, getting better is a matter of trying! Get yourself a really small (fine detail) brush to try a thing or two.

Here's something I have and use a lot = a testmarine, this bloke has managed to survive many experiments already, testing on a likely the same model always helps!

Hope I helped a bit, keep practising, we all came from scrap!

How do you do edge highlighting? Also, I used a black spray primer. I'll go back and touch up the details I missed. After spending awhile painting I guess I got sort of worn out and missed some.

Edge highlighting:

1. Identify the edges of the model like the edge around a shoulder plate shoulder plate or the edge of the lower leg plate that finishes just above the knee

2. Apply a very thin line with a finedetail brush to this edge, the colour you use for this should be a really bright colour of you initial layer so if you started with mcragge blue then the edge could be ice blue

3. Then apply an even thinner line of an even brighter colour just to those bits of the edges that would seem most exposed to the light, that bit is hard to explain precisely, maybe another user could explain better that last step
