I'm looking to put some of the Cadian Decals on my heavy weapon squad and I heard that some of the squad numbers have meanings. Does anyone have any insight to the meaning of the skulls and the other decals for shoulder pads?

The skuls can be used to denote command squads, or can just be used as random insignia. the other markings are supposed to be campaign or army markings and can be used to tie together a numebr of different units with a common insignia.

Regarding the numbers, it supposed to represent company, platoon and squad numbers. So 541 denotes 5th company, 4th platoon, 1st squad. A 0 can also mean a command squad or another squad not in the regular organisation path, so 609 is the 9th squad attached to the 6th company, but isn't in any of the line platoons. It could be used for heavy weapon or special weapons quads, or a CCS.

Or you can come up with your own ideas for what the designations mean

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

I don't know of one source on specifics(I suspect it does not exist, and these are just generic numbers and insignias).
FW might have fluff on the Cadian extreme environment troops - they may have some details, but probably it's all up to you.

I posted this thread in another forum and was told the building/gate symbol is for IG regiments from fortress worlds. This is from Eldritch Storm campaigns, according to the source. Also the skulls in numbers denote a form of commander. Numbers beginning with 00 are storm troopers. I found this information extremely helpful and thanks to those in this forum as well.

The gate symbol is specifically for the Cadian Gate, at th Eye of Terror, but can be used to denote other 'gate' worlds. Flinty is accurate in his post, I myself use the older number on two tone circle for mine.
