I already have an Ork army, but feeling it is too hard for fully paint all of my boyz.

So, feared by thought that I might not have fully painted army forever, I decided have another army which is easy to(relatively... against orks ) paint whole army.

I had 2 candidate, Tau and Space Marine, but I decided Tau because I have plenty, really plenty of Space Marine player near me, but have no Tau player.

My Tau painting scheme is sky blue, which is inspired by forge world tau aircraft, for air caste Ao'rata.

Though the sky blue is a color for air caste, but I treat my tau force as air caste ground force, maybe like luftwaffe.

Their main armor color is sky blue, and sept color is white.

So all of each squad has individual squad mark with white, and owns their own squad color like red, orange, blue, green.

Team leader has white painting its left side of head, on squad mark with own squad color.

The whole image of my army.

It takes me to 2 months to paint all of these.

Tau commander and Crisis battlesuits.

Tau commander is widely used in white, because he is real warrior of the sept.

All other battlesuits leg was cut off and re-attached to folding leg postion, but not sufficient in my thought.

On the back of battlesuits, I draw a tau mark on each battlesuits.

Crisis battlesuit's team color is green.

The Tau commander's battlesuit is from forge world, which product is, http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer-40000/Tau/TAU-BATTLESUITS-AND-DRONES/XV81-CRISIS-BATTLESUIT.html

I reversed missile pods, and just attached wings on its side.

The Ethereal adds a visual point for my army.

Whole army is simple blue scheme, but he has standing out orange color.

I did not use him very often but anyway I bought and painted him.

The fire warriors are 2 team, one has blue as team color and another has orange as team color.

Because they are my first attempt to paint Tau, they have individual pictures.

Fire warrior orange team.

Another fire warrior, blue team.

The Broadsides.

I have 2 Broadside team, each has red and yellow as team color.

I did not bought GW's Shield drone package, which is now produced in Finecast, instead I used 2 gun drone's antennas and a shield generator of battlesuit .

On the left of first picture, there are pathfinders in green team color.

I forgot to take picture of pathfinders.

First picture is Broadside red team, second and third picture are Broadside gold team.

Devilfish.

This vehicle is only used for using pathfinders.

Hammerhead gunship.

I do not use it very often because it is not good as Broadside in 6th edition, but I just bought it for visual point of army.

At least it is very good to see.

Croots.

The meat shield for tau.

Recently, I use my orks as meat shield for tau, but when playing pure Tau force I have to use these creature.

I bought and painted a Shaper, but I think I might not use him until Tau codex has renewal.

I recently painted Barracudas by hoping new flyers look like that, but new flyers are not expected I would like.

Thank you for seeing.

Have a good day

Brilliant. I'm now doing tau myself for a commision, and this is inspirational stuff. I like what you have done for the gems on the tanks.

This colourscheme works really well btw. Cudos on that.

All teams should have the same sept color usually, but it is a design choice. The blue looks very nice on the tau. Your highlighting was done very well.

Which is bad, since I already have two armies that are driving me into debt.

These are some awesome-looking Tau! It always makes me happy to see a well-painted Tau army that doesn't look like it was barfed on with neon or converted to some ridiculous Anime Chibi/Gundam fest. Your Commander is great; I love the use of the XV81 chassis with the wings.

I also am digging your XV88s. They have some great dynamic poses that make them look like the are the slow and lumbering units the fluff portrays them to be. The vehicles look great, too!

I know somebody mentioned the colors with the Sept markings, and I agree that they should all be the same, however taking creative license with our armies is all part of the hobby. Well done!

Thank you for all comments, everybody.

In fact, as mentioned at the start of the thread, my Tau's sept color is white, and every model has small white colored marking, and high-ranked model has more larger portion of white painting.
The team color(red, blue, orange, yellow... etc) is only done for convenient of distinction of each squad in playing game of 40K.(in case of moral check, or intending not mixing members from different squad which is placed next to, etc)
But it is my mistake that team color is much noticeable than sept color.

Super clean work and great consistency throughout the entire army.

Did you modify the Broadside models at all? Their stance appears much broader and bolder than the stock model. In any case, they look very good.

Why airbrush with a laquer paint? I use acryllics and have never tried any other type of paint.

Thanks for sharing. Awesome looking army.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

This army is very impressive, I like it a lot. Its the sort of army I'd dream of having the time to create to such a standard, alas I'm too much of a perfectionist and painting often ends up depressing.

Anyway, what did you use for the dirt/weathering/damage?

Sweet stuff, great color schemes, and I love the spray effect on the Hammerhead, a weird extra-terrestrial under-water look. Great detailing on the edges too, the chips and stuff.

I always did like the look of the Tau, and their fluff, and their crunch. Nothing like victory with overwhelming dakka.
Look up around here for some tau and tau v SM tactics, I'm sure you'll find some. Oh and nice painting, just love the colours.
