Gday Warhammer fans, I have been looking at collecting a Imperial Guard army for awhile but i didn't want a normal looking list so with that in ming i decided to bring back the squat.
The army will have a Ork wasteland theme and will have a mixture of flak armour, eco armour dwarves and a heap of big gun and tank goodness.
I will be uploading my WIP pictures on this thread over the next couple of months, so if you like squats and you think you might have some useful fluff info like what colours they should be or how they load there big guns and so forth than let us know.
First pic is two sergeants and a counts as LC or Iron Hand CCS IC and last the amount of flak armour infantry i have so far.
I will be sculpting vet squads, gun troops, eco armour boys and IC's for the army but at this point i just wanted to get the guts of the army done quickly, hope you like.

Flocking the blast with sand will make it look like a good explosion from what I've seen.

Great work! I like the guys you've chosen to work with, though they are smaller than most of the "not-Squats" you will find.

Where did you buy the miniatures?

The Tick: Everybody was a baby once, Arthur. Oh, sure, maybe not today, or even yesterday. But once. Babies, chum: tiny, dimpled, fleshy mirrors of our us-ness, that we parents hurl into the future, like leathery footballs of hope. =P Actually the Inquisition War has a Squat character that says something like, "what, you really think that we'd all been wiped out? Uh, so if an Imperial world which sends out forces for a few thousand years gets destroyed then all those forces just don't exist or something?".

Anyhow, nice gnomes models. That line was always characterful, so its nice to actually see a thread about them. (Though is the seller still manufacturing them? I recall reading that they were just selling off the last of their stock now).

Bob goes through and develops new lines and then sells off the old line every 5 years or so. Some of his past include the Texan Scrunts which he sold the molds and production rights to some guy in Australia. From his website:

New Releases August 2012
Hello we have just released 13 Scrunt Rangers
We have also had to increase our postage prices, see order info page for details

Important News Annoucement September 2011
Olleys Armies is not closing down but, over the coming months starting from November 2011, the current Scrunt ranges will be slowly sold to the owner of our previously auctioned sets of Scrunts. We will give prior notice to our customers as and when each set is due to be removed from our sales page, hopefully this will allow anyone who is interested in buying a particular Scrunt set enough time to make a purchase.
Our reasons for coming to this new arrangement are mainly the lack of time we can commit to Olleys Armies and the costs of running it, plus an additional pull on our income while we support our two children through their higher education.
Regards the future shape of Olleys Armies Miniatures, we will still be releasing miniatures but some of our new releases may only be available for a limited time before they are sold or auctioned. This is because we don't want to carry ongoing large ranges which we have to keep stocked.
Thanks for reading
Best Regards Bob & Jackie

thanks for your comments so far guys.

As for your questions about who sells them...as per what Sean O'Brien said, there is a fella who makes one off lines for his own game system I'm presuming, send me a private mail and i will give you the name as I'm not sure whether i should be putting names up on here, the guy has got some great stuff though.

I understand that GW killed them off however there are references that state there being a remanance of them that escaped the surge of the Hive fleets. So thats what this is, realistically with there adaption to worlds that would not normally be considered habitat able and there superior technology i find it to hard to suck up that they were wipe-out.

as for the up hill battle of finding minis to work with on this project, the one off IC's and elite units and vehicles will all be sculpted by myself to keep to the gnome size.

So what? If this guy wants to go ahead and make a Squat army, especially one that looks this cool, let him get on with it.

Good job mate, keep it up. Love the little fellas!

Cheers, mate.. thats about the jist of it anyways isn't it. Just model what you like, along as its WYSIWYG than who cares what it is.

Another HWT i did last night keep in mind that an ork planet was the theme to these guys. Also the first three Psykers for the PBS. My sanctioned pysker might be a lone Imperial psyker which has found these chaps and decided to join them in the quest in exacting revenge on the green skins. I have already completed a model for this guy which i will put up in the next couple of weeks when i get it back off a mate.

Demiurge never got munched by nidz, they are by all intents and purposes a separate race from squats who work with the Tau (they look more like golems than a dwarf last I remember)

The Demiurg are all well and good (and currently working alongside my Tau BFG fleet!) thank you very much!

Anyways, the models you are using for Squats are excellent and I'm loving some of the conversions.

Nicely done all round.

I am currently taking commissions.

Yay for Space Dwarves! (who actually aren't totally dead, they have a few million remnants left and they hate the Orks/Tyranids with a passion for destroying their homeworlds) And that colour scheme is really nice, stick with it!

I had a look at hassle free and there is actually some dudes there that i could see using in this army.

Attached is the base completed for my test model, i think the only thing i would do if i go with this colour is to use some powders on the tree log and grass to give it a more burnt look and battle damage on the guys armour.

Looks lovely though I am sure you know it would be better in good focus.

Switch your camera to spot metering mode. It is picking the rings of paint as its focus point. Spot metering will force it to take a focus off the centre of the frame.
