Made in my
Resourceful Gutterscum

Miri, Sarawak, Malaysia

Dear Gents and Ladies of Dakkadakka,

I have glean much knowledge from the forums here and with that, I have play tested several builds of Space Marines (Space Wolves and Vanilla Marines and Grey Knights).

So far, my favorites are Pure Space Wolves forces and Pure Grey Knights. With the inclusion of the Allies Matrix, I combine both Lists and got good results. So here is my dilemma. I have been scratching my head for over half of year 2012 on the aggressiveness of my list. How can I get MORE aggressive than ever. At least I know my friends and opponents get a kick at trying to kill my army because I never go static and mostly I hold objectives. Half the time players play with me, instead of advancing forwards, I flank them left and right on the table (Not from reserve, mind you).

I am highly appreciative if I could have some opinions on my army lists rounding up to 2000 points. Please point out the flaws and advantages of them (Through my eyes, I see many advantages, but if some of you people might see some advantage styles of play I might not have seen yet, so please point them out) I look at them left, right, top and down, wondering if it is up to par in taking the majority of the cheese list found in the gaming world. My main focus is on TROOPS and how much models I can put on the table.

The first two pictures shows a 2000 points Grey Knight Army with a 2000 points Space Wolves army.

Grey Knights [ARMY NUMBER 1] (2000 points)

HQ
100 points - Coteaz
49 points - Ordo Malleus Inquisitor (incinerator and 3 servo skulls)

Elites
294 points - Purifier Squad (10 men, 2 Deamon Hammers, 2 Halberds, 2 incinerators, 4 Swords... mounted in Rhino)

Troops
135 points - Henchmen (10 Warrior Acolytes, 3 meltaguns, 10 bolters... mounted in Chimera)

135 points - Henchmen (10 Warrior Acolytes, 3 meltaguns, 10 bolters... mounted in Chimera)

232 points - Henchmen (3 Monkeys, 3 Servitors with Multi Melta, 3 Warrior Acolytes with 3 Plasma Rifles OR EXCHANGE with 3 Meltaguns if situation warrants it... mounted in Chimera)

270 points - Grey Knight Strike Squad (10 men, 1 Deamon Hammer, 2 Psy cannons... mounted in Rhino)

Fast Attack

Heavy Support
135 points - Dreadnought with TL- Autocannon and PsyBolt upgrade

135 points - Dreadnought with TL- Autocannon and PsyBolt upgrade

245 points - Purgation Squad (10 men, 1 Deamon Hammer and 4 Incinerators... mounted in Rhino)

...BREAK DOWN...
Model Count : 80 Models on table.
Total Knights: 40 Grey Knights.
Rhinos : 4
Chimeras : 3
Non Knights : 29 Henchmen (3 servitors, 3 monkeys and 23 Warrior Acolytes)
Dreadnoughts : 2
ICs : 2 (OM Inquisitor and Coteaz)

Plan:
1) OM inquisitor and Purgation squad hijack a chimera to flame... well... anything. Extra squad members are to buff up the squad in case Chimera gets blown up and they get CC. Either way, they are to frustrate the enemy. What I really love is Astral Aiming the Incinerators over the wrecks or ruins that block LOS.

2) Two Henchmen Squad mounted in Chimera... act as escorts for the Purgation and Anti Armour and objective holders if need be (Uses any Rhinos nearby to block LOS to them to increase survivalbility)

3) Servo Skulls... in case the situation warrants it, I will use them for my Strike Squads if the need to DS is called for. So instead of mounted in their Rhinos, they would DS and the Rhinos acts LOS and Assault blockers. I use this tactic for gun lines. 20 Knight DS on the flanks? Yes please ^_^.

4) Henchmen squad with the Monkeys are more like my band of misfits that I cobbled together with the left over points. I will camp them with Coteaz near objectives. They are my only Anti Air and Minor Anti DS... Meh... make do with what I have. Their Chimera is donated to the Purgation Squad.

5) Two Strike Squads... for gun-lines and flanking and DS. They are also my main defense as Anti Deep Strikers. I would Combat Squad them if need be (Half squad carries the 2 psycannons while the other half is for Assault)

6) Two Dreadnoughts... took them for the Autocannons and Aegis Defense. I find them effective against Tyranids, but lacking in taking down Necron Wings. CRY SOME MOAR TYRANID WARRIORS.... CRY... BWAHAHAHAHAHA (Yes, I really hate those lash whips they carry... MY TURN to cry when I play against Necrons when flyers blow them up)

7) Rhinos... Meh, I use them as blockers for LOS and enemy Assaults.

8) Purifiers... More like my puffers in counter assault. Like the big bad wolf and 3 little piggies. I huff and puff and I'll blow your house down...until they meet the third piggy with a brick house (Terminators, MCs, and Anything with T6 or Save 2+... I know they will die, at least they could tie up infantry blobs and those dangerous units up for another round of shooting if they die in the enemy assault turn)

Space Wolves [ARMY NUMBER TWO] (2000 points)

HQ
100 points - Rune Priest (Jaws of the World Wolf, Storm Caller... I might exchange a power to get the Primaris Power in the Divination table of the 40k rulebook, WARGEAR is bolt pistol and Runic Weapon)

Elites
180 points - Wolf Guard (5 men, 5 power weapons... mounted in HB Razorback)

Troops
200 points - Grey Hunters (10 men, 2 Plasma Rifles... mounted in HB Razorback)

200 points - Grey Hunters (10 men, 2 Plasma Rifles... mounted in HB Razorback)

200 points - Grey Hunters (10 men, 2 Plasma Rifles... mounted in HB Razorback)

195 points - Grey Hunters (10 men, 2 Meltaguns... mounted in HB Razorback)

195 points - Grey Hunters (10 men, 2 Meltaguns... mounted in HB Razorback)

195 points - Grey Hunters (10 men, 2 Meltaguns... mounted in HB Razorback)

Fast Attack

Heavy Support
180 points - Long Fangs (6 men, 5 Missile Launchers... mounted in HB Razorback)

180 points - Long Fangs (6 men, 5 Missile Launchers... mounted in HB Razorback)

180 points - Long Fangs (6 men, 5 Missile Launchers OR EXCHANGE to 5 Multi Meltas... mounted in HB Razorback)

...BREAK DOWN...
Model Count : 94 Models on table.
Total Hunters: 60 Grey Hunters.
Razorback : 10
Long Fangs : 18 Long Fangs
Wolf Guard : 5 Guards
ICs : 1 (Rune Priest)

Plan:
1) Grey Hunters: They are my Anvil with Wolf Guards leading them and that lone Rune Priest (Storm Caller 5+ cover save might be of help if they are in open terrain and that Jaws of the World Wolf.) According to some of my friends, having 66 wolfs on one flank walking to you bad ass style is like... WOAH coupled with OH FRAK along with a side dish of YEAH, WOLF PULPING TIME (I use them as Close Range Anti Armour and Anti Save 2+)

2) Razorbacks: The 10 Razorbacks are my Hammer. 30 TLHB shots coming from one flank can ruin any light vehicles and infantry's day. If situation warrants it and if I go against gun-lines, I have these as LOS blockers and anti Assault. (I love to use transports as blockers ^_^) I normally put the razorbacks in a long line and push forward with wolfs behind them. It is a 400 point loss for me if all razors got killed, but even in death, they serve as blocking LOS for gun-lines. At some games, even flyers can't see my Grey Hunters when I have them very close to the wreaks and when they fly over, the flyers got shot up and have to jink to survive at times. For gun-line situations, I would stick my Grey Hunters to them like a limpet on a rock, (like an inch away), so I would have to risk the explodes results killing some Hunters if the Razors got blown up.

3) 5 men Wolf Guard squad: I split up the Wolf Guards, have them lead the hunters. Because I give them Power Weapons... that is about it.

4) Rune Priest: I might attach him to a Long Fang squad or a random Grey Hunter squad. Mostly use him for the Divination powers OR Biomancy powers (see Space Wolves FAQ 1.1) and the Storm Caller and Jaws of the World Wolf.

5) Long Fangs: I still keep on the missle launchers due to anticipating the arrival of purchasing flak missiles IF it is applicable to them. Other than that, I use them for the 48 inch S8 AP3. One Long Fang squad will have either the Multi Meltas OR Missile Launchers depending on the situation (I modeled them with Multi Meltas and the Hunter Killer Missile Launchers from the vehicle sprue. I strap the missile launchers to their back packs so I could say they 'count as' Missile Launchers if I want Missile Launchers instead of the Multi Meltas to my opponents before the game starts.) They are also my Anti- Horde, Anti Flyer and Anti Tank all in one.

Heavy Support

...BREAK DOWN... (Space Wolves)
Total Hunters : 20 Grey Hunters
Skyclaws : 20 Skyclaws
Razorback : 3
Vindicators : 2
Long Fangs : 6 Long Fangs
ICs : 1 (Rune Priest)

...BREAK DOWN... (Grey Knights)
Total Knights: 25 Grey Knights.
Rhino : 1
Razorback : 1
ICs : 1 (OM Inquisitor)

Model Count : 80 Models on table.

Plan:
1) Skyclaw Assualt Pack:
PLEASE KNOW THESE THREE THINGS and LAUGH at your opponents face...
ONE: They are good on the charge.
TWO: ALWAYS take TWO full squads and Tag Team them.
THREE: ONE HUNDRED ATTACKS ON THE CHARGE (Laughs maniacally) Teamwork rules between squads.

With 10 men, I will have 50 attacks on any enemy on the charge [Base (1) + CCW (1) + Berserk Charge (2) + Hammer of the Wrath (1)= 5 attacks per model). I normally use them to assault enemies already in assault, that way I won't be afraid of the over watch fire and mop up what is left of the enemy. At first, they seem like any normal Assault marines, but I normally go overkill with them and charge both full teams on the same target, really bringing down the hammer with 100 attacks on one target. Against MCs, I have 20 krak grenades at my disposal. An interesting thing to note, I keep them close to my Hunters as they advance behind razors and cover and I rarely shot them bolt pistols *chuckles* Never once I voluntarily began an assault with them (Of course if the enemy is 6 inches away, I have to forgo shooting and assault them). I wait until the enemy rush my hunters or the Grey Knights allies and in my turn, counter attack with them. Had so much fun with these guys.

2) Grey Hunters and Grey Knight Strike Squad and Purifiers:
I get the purifiers because the cleansing flame and the incinerators they could have. Being fearless also helps to, so use them to tar pit the enemy. Strike Squad is more for Anti DS if there is a need for it, but other than that, I use them for Anti-AP3 duty in conjunction with the Sky claws and Grey hunters. Strike Squad ability to Deep Strike is helpful too when I want to harass or distract. As for Grey Hunters, I use them to tar pit and assist the Strike Squad and Purifiers. Other than that, they do Close Range Anti- Tank duty.

3) Purgation Squad and OM inquisitor
I attach the Inquisitor to the squad for the Subborn and to soak wounds. Not bad for a 25 point wound soak. As for Purgations, I use them to flame and distract. I give them the teleport homer in case I want to DS my Strike squads safely near them in certain games. Other than that, they are cheap effective distractions. I mount them in their own razorback to better flank the enemy. Having 3 S6 AP4 shots and 4 Incinerator templates could cause some pain if not dealt with. Oooo and the Justicar has a handy hammer to deal with those pesky arrogant leman russes that sometimes ignore them because the purgations does not look that scary. Until when Strike Squads teleport nearby at enemy gun line... it is a very good distraction and cheap too. ^_^

4) Vindicators and transports:
Due to the experiences I have read on Dakkadakka, I come to my own conclusion that Land Raiders die quick. To compensate, I take TWO vindis and waltz them with the razorbacks. I position them so that view of the vindicator's side armour is completely blocked or extremely hard to see (Mostly I position them side by side with the razors an inch forward than the vindis). As a bonus, I now have a line of tanks that block LOS of the troops advancing behind it. Good for holding onto objectives.

5) Rune Priest and Long fangs
Use them for AT duty and Anti Air and Anti MC. Other than that, a small annoying target that opponents must deal with. Sometimes, I make use of Storm Caller for cover and Jaws of the World Wolf to snipe when situation calls for it. Rune Priest is good as support and Primaris Power of the Divination is helpful in making the Long Fangs weapons Twin Link. Twin link Meltaguns on the Grey Hunters help too if the situation is bad, like Drop Pod Dreads or tunneling Mawlocs emerging or Mysptic Spore MCs ruining my wolves' day.

...END OF ARMY LIST REPORTS...

I offer my humble armies to the judment of the fellowship of dakkadakka. How could I play this lists in a more fun manner? Could it go face to face against cheese lists and teach TFG players a good lesson in fun?

How would you all play this army? The good, the bad, I welcome them all and will take them into consideration. On a side note, I know the paint scheme is NOT Space Wolves, that I know. They use to be my beloved vanilla marines... until 6th ed arrive to ruin their day.

I am building another Wolf Army, but this time with termies. I'll attach the pictures along if anyone wants to see their progress. I have lots of minis, so I could modify the lists. Make sure the body count is high... I like having many, many space puppies on the table to play with my friend's/ opponent's army. (Grumbles... now what do I do with 50 left over terminators... grumble, grumble, grumble)

I look forward to opinions of all sorts including those that say my list is dumb and stupid. If it is stupid, please tell me why it is as such, not just because.

[Edit: I just realize how blur my Grey Knight Army is. I uploaded a quartet of pictures for your viewing pleasure.]

Do you have any battle reports available? You certianly have a large painted force, have you taken them to any tourneys?

So far all I have are friendly matches over Vassal and in the university I have been studying at. No official tourneys here in Sarawak, but in another state nearby, (Just Wargame in Sabah) they have tourneys, but I have to drive more than 200 kilometers just attend. So I have not been in tourneys before.

Me and one of my friends help refine this list against Tau and Tyranids. If it could go against heavy hitters and long gunlines, than it could...well, could in theory... go toe to toe against mid fielders.

"The more models in the field, the harder to kill" that is what he says.

While I think that your pure wolves are the strongest list of those 3, the 10 hb razors are a bit spammy for fun games in my area. That is not to say unbeatable, just that I see some opponents throwing their hands up. At least that is what my group its like.

If you really wanted, you could combine the 10 razors with your gk so those 10 razors all gain s6. 6 troops, 3 elites, 1 heavy purgation squad and 2 dreads.
