A while ago I posted up my ammo dump (http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/492865.page).

I'm intending to try and make one each of the terrain that has an effect in the game.

My daemon world table is looking a little bare so I decided to make a "mysterious forest" for it but with a touch of chaos.

The base is just expanded polystyrene covered in sand.

The poles are dowel.

The wheels are cardboard.

The figures and bits are from the bitz box.

The barbed wire is hand made - it's cheap and easy and gives the best results as it is made from real wire. Basically take three strands of thin copper wire and tie knots in it.

There is a tutorial here if you need one.

I left a lot of space on the wheels so that I can decorate them with reminders of the armies I hope to crush with my daemons in the new year.

Cheers

Looks great and (from the looks of it), it will not interfere too much with modelplacement during games. That's the most annoying thing with regular forests.

So looks great and practical, nice idea!

Thanks for the comments.

Yes... the way that forests are now area terrain has really made modelling them a lot more practical than having to try and totally fill them with trunks.

Really nice work, it looks great! I can't help feeling one of the skellys-in-a-cage from the WH giant kit would look amazing hanging from one of the 'trees'!

It looks great. One thing I would suggest would be to make a couple more and make it look less sparse. It looks great, but in terms of game play it is difficult to believe getting a IIRC 4+ save from those.

That is a great idea and a clever bit of work. Good job on making something unique, but still usable in the rules and on the table.
IIRC forrests provide a 5+ cover.

Life isn't fair. But wouldn't it be worse if Life were fair, and all of the really terrible things that happen to us were because we deserved them?
