This summer me and a friend are playing in a massive apocalypse game. To put this in perspective I am flying to the other side of the country (which is a long way since this is Canada) to play in it. The plan is, on my way back from a trip to England, I will stop in and meet my friend at Toronto air port. I will be taking my guard army (a bit of a liberty with that, as I will explain later) across the province to play in this game. I am a big fan of narrative and cinematic battles and so I will be playing a pretty fluffy army. I will go over the fluff later. Any way's here's the plot:
My army is tiny. Like really small, less then 500 points. To play in this game I have already started applying for jobs and I will have to commit a lot of time to painting/modeling. This is combined with my busiest school schedule yet (like I have actually had to *gasp* do homework, and worse yet *bigger gasp* study!), as well as my inability to stay away from my computer. I will update this with pictures as I go, as well as any anecdotes that come up. It doesn't help that in my need to fulfill my unique army's fluff I will be buying head swaps and doing some converting.
Now for fluff. My army is the Rolander's 2nd Infantry, Rolander's 3rd mechanized and Rolander's 5th Air Cavalry. Roland Prime just founded their first 6 regiments in over a millenium, having been infested with orks. On the anniversary of a century since the last ork was slain they produced the regiments. The planet was colonized by an aging Cadian regiment who were given the option of settling after a long crusade, or fighting on and inevitably dyeing out, while the majority of the command staff went back to Cadia to re-furbish the regiment and return the colors. The Cadian's settled and soon Roland Prime was a strong Agri World. Our hero is Colonel George Rayek of the Rolander's 2nd, grandson of the Cadian Colonel who had decided to stay behind with his men. The regiments command staff and sergeants are all either son's/grandson's of Cadian officers or were themselves PDF officers. All Rolander's are a bit arrogant about their planet, perfectly safe and peaceful as it is. They boast that it has the cleanest air in the Imperium and so, whenever a Rolander leaves the planet, they wear a special re-breather mask until they return home. The army is supplied with tanks and equipment from the in system forge world of Prolivance II. The 3rd Mechanized also boasts a baneblade company with three baneblade's, left over from the wars over a century before. Of course the guardsmen are all eager, but sadly in-experienced. This is represented with the army composition and how I will end up playing my army.
Any suggestions on fluff and painting are welcome. Here is the first sentinel, suggestions welcome.
