Evening all, figured id finally get my act together and start a thread showing off some of my work. For this thread i hope to regularly update you guys with progress on the work i am doing with the plastic Chaos Space Marine Aspiring Champion that GW have released for the Chaos Space Marine range.

As you can see from the picture i have finished the metal stage of the model, next up will be the base coat for the armour and then the rest of the base colours. My plan is to do my version of the picture that comes with the model, also it shouldn't take me too long to finish the model to a good - high quality tabletop standard (which is what i always paint to). Hopefully the pictures will get better though i think the one attached is the way it is due to there being a lack of colour

Morning, just finished the painting the base colour for the armour. I've also painted the necron body parts and the rest of the axe as i had forgotten them when painting on the metal colours yesterday. Next up will be the rest of the base colours, then i will be tidying up the paint work and shading.

Next ill tidy up the model and then shade it.

Finished the first stage of painting for this model now, base colours have been tidied up and the whole model has been shaded. Tomorrow when i start work on this model again i will be painting on the first layers of lighter colour.



I hope people are actually enjoying this thread and comments suggestions are welcome.


On a side note, this is what happened when i was shading the head on the back...



...managed to knock over the pot of Reikland Fleshshade and this is the end result after mopping it up...



...so on Thursday i'll be buying some more :(

Morning, here's the first update for today. Finished the first layer of metals and next will be first layer for the armour and rest of the colours.



I have also taken a picture of the axe as in all the pictures so far it has been a blurry mess :p

Morning again, just finished painting on all of the first layers and after lunch i'll be tidying up any areas that accidental got the wrong paint on them. After that i will be giving a few areas a second shade and then going on to second layers.

I'll check it out, I really like watching someones progression like this and seeing the model improve. I'll have to do the same on my next minis. Sorry about the fleshshade, pretty sure its happened to all of us.

Yeah it was really annoying especially as it was full when i started :(

I've managed to knock paint pots over and get a little bit on the desk but not shades.

Seeing the process you used for this really helped me both decide how I want to do my next batch of chaos warriors, and also hopefully it will help me improve my technique as well.

I really dig the progression! A simple, yet effective color scheme! Truly puts an intimidating "In your face" feel to the model. are you going to be adding any more highlights or shadows to him? Or leaving it as is, for the sake of "just being a random dood" in your army?
