I think you did a nice job on them. They are nice, neat, and well highlighted. My only piece of criticism would be the base, in that the colors and patterns make the rest of the figure faded into the base and don't make it stand out.

Check pattern just instantly takes me back to the early 90's when I used to look at the early stuff.... Love it, I'm inspired to play with this on my Pre-Heresy Iron Hands and maybe paint some checkerboard on them.

Being fair, I do think the comment that the base makes it look very busy is correct. I would swap it out if possible for a different style or type, or alternatively a plain deck plate type. Here is the style I did and I think it might suite this paint scheme more.

Collecting Forge World 30k????? If you prefix any Thread Subject line on 30k or Pre-heresy or Horus Heresy with [30K] we can convince LEGO and the Admin team to create a 30K mini board if we can show there is enough interest!

I think he will look, pretty epic with an industrial type base. The paint job would be 8.5 - 9.0 out of 10 from me. I just like to throw idea's around, lord knows people on here have helped me enough with ideas over the years.

His face is extremely well done btw.

The checkers look good actually. I personally use a piece of plasticcard to draw my initial lines so as to not screw them up. I am not sure if you just eyeballed it but if you did well done.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!

Really like your checkers! (and the model)
Just not sure on the placement of the checkers on the back of his leg, looks kinda out of place there

How did you do the eyes? It looks like they are just dark, did you do any differential between iris and pupil or white?

Great job on the checkerpattern. I know I did a tutorial on doing them for orks quite a while back. It is difficult to get right and you did a splendid job.

Hi yes i just did the eyes dark as i dont like to paint the eyes in as it's to eyes to mess it up and end up ruining the look of the model. Thanks for the question.

The highlights on the yellow portion of the check pattern are well done. It doesn't look like anything was done on the black. A little dark gray would go a long way in making them pop.
