I have been thinking about two different color schemes for nids. They are both relatively the same, but what one do you guys think would look better? And im really not the best at painting models so keep that in mind, I don't really do high lights and like to just keep to washes.

Option 1

- Black armor/carapace
- Dark purple flesh with dark/black wash
- Yellow accents
- Bone with claws and teeth

Option 2

- Dark purple armor/carapace
- Sky blue, but a bit darker flesh with dark/black wash (would keep this down to not darken the blue to much, but more just get it slightly dirty looking and get the groves and cracks dark)
- White accents and claws/teeth

I like the sound of option 1, but could you post a picture of each for visual aid? It'd make choosing a lot easier.

Is there a website I can go to that has 2D models?

This might help http://www.fallensunasylum.org/nids/online_painter.html

Failing that, you can also pick custom army colours in the DOW2 game, which shows 3D models.

So here are my 2 ideas, I go for just something that looks good on the table top. Im not one for painting a lot of detail, and getting into a heavy amount of depth. I really like both, but probably leaning more towards option 1.

Something else you'll want to consider is how quickly can you achieve the desired scheme. Depending on your army list, you may be painting hundreds of figures, so finding an easy-to-paint scheme is a big deal. I suggest that you find some figures and paint up a couple in your various schemes, and see which one has the best balance of the aesthetic you want with the ease of painting you'll want.

So my buddys told me the purple was a bit to dark on the first one so I went back and lightened it up

I'll tell you right now that yellow on top of black will be a big PITA.

I don't even think I will do the yellow on the carapace. I really wont be spending that much time on them. Yellow will be more in the tiny holes the nids have on their skin.
