Hello all. my recent work on my Napoleonic IG has given me the idea to make a mini codex to create a set of rules for some of the more exotic units and vehicles that populate the world of Europa Major. this is going to be a major WIP and as long as I keep having ideas I don't think it will ever be truly finished. that's why I'm making it a thread instead of an article: because I'd like to get some feedback on all the units in the codex before I set them in stone. here's what you can expect to see so far:
Units:
Lord Kilgore: a pyromaniac who leads the colonial forces of the Aryan Islands.
the Mad Dogs: Kilgore's specialist unit, a unit of guardsmen with flamethrowers and other incendiary weapons.
Nicole Tesla: a scientist who specializes in electricity. she carries a pistol with the "tesla" quality, and can upgrade guardsmen to carry tesla weapons as well.
Vehicles:
Linebreaker Class Transport Tank:
During the last great war on Europa Major the battle lines quickly degraded into trench warfare. at the time the favored strategy of the commanders was to rush the enemy's strongest point with a massed charge of infantry. this would often lead to whole regiments being wiped out in the course of a day. the crown prince at the time George of Britannia believed there was a better way. he worked with the royal college of engineers to create an unusual looking tank: the Linebreaker class transport tank. based on the design of a wheel the tank was initially mocked as "George's Nuts" because they would often work in pairs to transport a platoon. all opposition to the tanks was soon silenced when they were deployed for the first time at the battle of Normania, and subsequently ensured the Britannian victory. the Linebreaker crews earned a reputation for daring feats, and soon "George's Nuts" referred not to the tanks themselves, but to the crews that operated them. the tanks proved vital to the decisive Britannian victory that instituted the "Pax Europa" period of the planet's history. in the following years many of the tanks were demilitarized and sold into private hands as farm tractors, however a few are still kept in working condition in case they are ever needed again.

(a Linebreaker class tank is a heavy support choice in a Codex: Imperial Guard army.)
Fjord Class Hovercraft: a fast PT boat capable of moving on land at a slower pace. carries two exterminator autocannons and two heavy stubbers.
Red Dragon Class Flame Tank:
On the Aryan Islands there is a saying: “Only mad dogs and Britannians go out in the mid-day sun.” most of the natives will retire shortly after noon to escape the heat that beats down on their island chain. And yet the pale Britannians continue on in the unbearable heat as if nothing was different. The locals wonder: how can this be? the answer is that the colonial forces assigned to the Aryan Islands have felt a heat much more unbearable than any the sun could throw at them: they have tasted the flame, and they like it.
The commander of the colonial defense forces, Lord Kilgore, is an unabashed pyromaniac. He has requested that instead of the normal requisition of leman russ tanks, he receive an equal number of hellhounds. Given the dense bamboo underbrush of the islands, this may actually be a keen tactical decision on Kilgore’s part. He has also commissioned the development of even greater flame based weapons. The most prominent of which is the Red Dragon Class Flame Tank. Named after the mythical beast from Kilgore’s home in the Welsh subcontinent, the Red Dragon is capable of condensing incendiary gel into a semi-solid state before launching it from the main cannon. once the gel round is in the air it ignites and returns to a gel state when it lands, spraying anything in front of the landing area with the flammable gel. This long range fire artillery has allowed the colonial forces to burn local resistance bases to the ground as soon as they are discovered with minimal loss of friendly forces. While Kilgore has been lauded for his success with the Red Dragon, rumors circulate that he has become unstable recently, and has developed a singular monomania surrounding the spreading of fire. Time will tell if madness has truly consumed him, or if his obsession with fire has actually been a clever ruse for an unknown purpose.
Red Dragon Flame Tank battery: 150 pts each
BS: 3, Armor: front: 12, Side: 11, Rear:10, HP: 3
Unit Type: Vehicle (tank)
Composition: 1-2 red dragon flame tanks
Wargear: Heavy flamer, Red Dragon Cannon, Searchlight, Choking Smoke
Special Rules:
Red Dragon Cannon: the red dragon cannon has two fire methods: condensed and dispersed spray. Chose which fire method you use each time you fire the cannon. If you fire using the condensed method after firing and resolving the location of the shot mark the area the shot effects. This is the inferno zone, and is treated as dangerous terrain until it is resolved. At the beginning of each game turn roll a D6, on a roll of 4+ the flames have dissipated and the inferno zone is removed.
It Takes Time To Condense: the Red Dragon Cannon can only fire a condensed shot once before it must take time to condense another shot. If the red dragon cannon has fired last turn it cannot fire a condensed shot this turn, however it can fire a dispersed shot.
Constant Barrage: when a battery of Red Dragon Tanks fires every member of the battery is not required to fire. If a tank selects not to fire it is not treated as though it fired this turn for the purposes of “it takes time to condense”.
Choking smoke: the Red Dragon Flame tanks are constantly surrounded by choking smoke from their fuel tank that doubles as their ammo reservoir, as such the Red Dragon Flame tanks are constantly treated as if they had fired smoke launchers this turn. In addition any unit within 6” with the “Pyromaniac” special rule is inspired by the constant smoke and flame and receives +1 leadership.
Options:
Any Model may take any of the following:
Pintle mounted storm bolter or heavy stubber: 10 points per model
Hunter killer missile: 10 points per model
Dozer blade: 10 points per model
Extra armor: 15 points per model
Weapons:
Red Dragon Cannon:
(condensed) range: 72”, STR: 6, AP: 4, Ordinance 1 Large Blast.

(a Red Dragon Tank Battery is a Heavy support choice in a Codex: Imperial Guard army)
Dynamo Class Tank: a fast but lightly armored tank that can shoot out electrical discharges in addition to its main guns.
Specialist lists:
Kilgore's Colonial Defense Forces: flame obsessed Britannians wearing turbans.
The Aust-Germanian College of Sciences Test Division: lots of electricity and skimmer blimps.
that's all I can think of right now, I'd like to see if anyone is interested in this before I plunge headlong into this project. please tell me what you think of anything I've mentioned so far.
EDIT: I'm in the process of replacing the unit descriptions with the initial rules as I write them, so if it seems a little weird right now bear with me.
