Recently I've been playing a game called Wargame: Airland Battle, and it's inspired me to make my latest project: Cold War themed NATO IG. this first post is going to be a good way to keep track of how far I'm progressing, as what follows is what I plan to build. so far I'm thinking this will be about four armies: the USA (artillery), the UK (tanks, lots of tanks), the French (Air Cav), and the West Germans (Mech Vets) plus some extra units to pad out the lists in an Apocalypse game. here's what I've got planned which will be updated with pictures as I progress:

Sorry about the wall of text, but in time this will be a handy way of tracking my progress as I work on this project. unfortunetly I have finals I need to work on so I probabbly won't be able to get back to this until Tuesday, I just wanted to get this out there so that I could be motivated to keep working on it.

For the lasguns I would file down the barrel shroud to make it even.

Ok seeing as I can never do any army without fluff, here's the fluff for this army:
It was a simple mission for Rogue Trader Silas Black, but it paid extremely well for its simplicity. All he had to do was ferry a few regiments of Imperial Guard from Colombia III to the nearby star system of Europax. Apparently there was some kind of cold war going on between two rival factions in the sector. One side was represented by the Colombian Treaty Organization or COTO, and on the other side was the Minoris Pact. Each side had their peculiarities on how they governed, the COTO believed in personal freedom and free choice yet were extremely pious, the Pact was less pious, but their tithes were always paid on time and they freely submitted to imperial authority without question. The sector governor had chosen not to intervene if there was a war as both sides had proven their loyalty to the Imperium, so they were left to settle their own problems. Now it looked like tensions were heating up in the sector, and the Columbians were sending reinforcements to their allies in Europax in preparation for an attack.
Everything had gone well for Silas at first; he had docked his ship in orbit and taken a shuttle down to the planet to arrange for his payment. As he sat in the local magistrate’s office working out the final details the phone on the magistrate’s desk began to ring. The magistrate picked up, and as he listened to the voice on the other end the color began to drain from his face. “Emperor’s Blood…. Is this confirmed?” he listened to the voice again. “Very well,” he gulped before continuing. “put everything we have on high alert, move us to ready level Cocked Pistol.”
Then Silas’s coms relay crackled to life: “sir this is the helm, we have multiple capital and escort class ships dropping out of warp. Sir they are opening fire on us. Warp drives are disabled, we can’t hold out much longer. Permission to abandon ship sir?”
“Permission granted, get everyone to the savior pods and make landfall on the planet below.” Silas tried to stay calm, but he had just lost a ship that had been in his family for generations. Someone would answer for this, and he would start with the magistrate. He grabbed the man and hoisted him by the collar. “What in the warp just happened?”
The magistrate squirmed in Silas’s iron grip. “It’s the Pact, they’re attacking! I’m sorry about your ship, but there’s much worse things for us in store when they make landfall.”
“And why should I care about your little war?”
“Because I’ll double your pay if you’ll help us!” Silas raised an eyebrow. “Ok I’ll triple!” Silas gripped the man’s neck harder. “Ok quadruple, plus payment equivalent to your command rank for the time your serve!”
“I don’t care about money right now, what I want is a ship!”
“Fine, fine, when we win you’ll get your pick of one of the Pact’s capitol ships, just help us!” Silas released the man.
“I want that in writing by this planet’s next rotation.” Silas turned and walked out of the office. Outside the sky was starting to fill with the forms of Pact drop troops as civilians ran for safety, and the soldiers ran for their battle stations. It was times like these that Silas was reminded of the tattoo on his left forearm, an ancient Terran symbol that meant “crisis” but was made up of the symbols for “danger” and “opportunity” which about summed up the way he liked to do business.

For the weapons have you thought about using plastic rod it might work better than greenstuff
