Subject: Ork Warboss - Concept to build start help

hey guys,
For my army I've got a warboss in mind that I want to convert and build through the use of an existing model, plasticard and green stuff.
However, since I've been a long time away from the game I have been unable to find a suitable base model, I was hoping some of you more experienced modellers would have some suggestions.
I have attached a prelim. sketch ive done on the position I would prefer the model to be in 'post' conversion, so im looking for any ideas/suggestions on the base model.
The concept is basically, he's big, hes huge, slightly fat in truth and he carries basically a gunblade.... well more a gunhammer. The weapon will be using the shaft as the gun barrel for a sort of large, long cannon look. The head of the hammer will be created using the driver of a sister of battle dreadnaught thing (basically its a person in a seat chained down with lots of wires- looks awesome). The armour I will most likely create using plasticard.
I've looked through im pretty sure every model on the GW site and the only one I found I thought would work was the stone troll - http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?hl=en&tbo=d&biw=1920&bih=1003&tbm=isch&tbnid=Yv9VcwW9dkpFeM:&imgrefurl=http://hendersonworks.blogspot.com/2011/11/hobbits-beware-stone-trolls-are-here.html&docid=tlY_y3t-fRuO-M&imgurl=http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-fwQJQJ_vD6E/TtG7eKNR0BI/AAAAAAAAARo/RFTJ_o2h4uA/s1600/Warhammer_Stone%252BTroll_2564.JPG&w=1600&h=1200&ei=_zABUciEKIeRhQeH24DQBg&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=392&vpy=276&dur=1953&hovh=194&hovw=259&tx=130&ty=117&sig=115611429296508786803&page=1&tbnh=142&tbnw=189&start=0&ndsp=70&ved=1t:429,r:14,s:0,i:121
After another browse just now, I am considering the trolls from the TLOR sets.
Any help appreciated

Favourite Game: When your Warboss on bike wrecks 3 vehicles simply by HoW - especially when his bike is a custom monowheel.

Trolls or ogres may well be the easiest source for a huge fat ork, presuming you'll be covering most of his flesh with armour (in which case, if needed you can also give him a shorter torso by cutting away a slice mid-torso).
Be careful with your head choice, as only some troll/ogre heads look orky, although again some armour will help hide any inconvenient features.
If you can find a figure holding an appropriate diameter club, that will be a good base to add the rest of the 'gunhammer' bits.

From your concept a plastic ogre is probably the easiest. I'd also look at ogryn models. one thing to look out for is the orks physiology with shorter legs and stooping upper body.
look forward to seeing the model!

An Ogre KIngdoms Tyrant/Paymaster Maneater may work if you make him more Orky (swapping the head, removing nipples, adding/removing) glyphs, but you could also do something someone else did and use some PP Hordes kits, namely the Trollbloods Dire troll Mauler, like in this thread: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/139987.page

Ah thanks for the excellent tips!
Yeh, im considering not worrying too much about the physical shape of the warboss being perfect, as the whole horde im building are going to look quite rag-tag, sort of mismatched.
So a slightly perculiar warboss might work well. I just love the idea of him being physically huge, unnartural almost
Thanks for the link Deunstephe, I dont really know much about PP kits. Could someone give me the names of companies or websites I can look for them? They are just other minatures available outside of GW?

PP is a company on its own and has a website. You can probably find their stuff at you FLCS. You could just order it online though, through eBay, Amazon, or this site: http://www.miniaturemarket.com/table-top-miniatures/warmachine-hordes.html?gclid=CPnl-7zhi7UCFQqk4Aod6yEAqw
