Feel free to comment on the post and trophy. This is our first go at this competition and as much feedback as we can get would be great!

The hand in the air will be holding a useable paintbrush as well something high quality.

Kinda local, I'll have to sharpen my paint brushes for this.

"Orkses never lost a battle. If we win we win, if we die we die fighting so it don't count. If we runs for it we don't die neither, cos we can come back for annuver go, see!"

I dig how in a setting where giant, muscled fungus men ride Mad Max cars and use their own teeth as currency, the concept of little engineering dudes with beards was considered a step too far down the aisle of silliness.

A couple of questions as this matters in the long run for you. Who is the judge/judges and what accreditation's do they have to qualify them. I ask because if your wanting to make it a well known event that people travel to them having a gamer from the store or some rogue trader winner judge it then that does little for validation. I am not trying to sound rude but more help you in the long run. Also have you set a basing and display size and are you judging those into factor as well. Cool trophy btw i will post this to team North America and get some demon painters to it. Finally rules on entries previously used. Can they be entries from that we won with in previous comps.also you may want to consider a best of show as well just a suggestion.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!

Longmeadow, MA. Right on the border of Enfield.

I live in Enfield myself. It's very local considering the lack of hobby stores in general.

Absolutely understood and point taken very seriously. In our first year the official judges are the store staff BUT we're no schlubs and do have plenty of experience under our belts, we're just not accredited as you suggested. We have competed ourselves and some of us worked for GW for years in management engaging directly with some of the Judges at Golden Demon. So you can expect serious critique and considerations while we understand we still need to build our reputation. Once we establish this first year, our goal will be to include more accredited judges as you detail above. This year we simply want to get the event out there and gauge interest in another venue for folks to show their work and receive rewards for their efforts. We're putting our all into it and hope that shows through in the end.

All of your replies and support for the event are well received and we hope very much to see everyone there to compete! Thanks!

Empchild, I have personally have gone over judging criteria for golden deamon competition a few times and painting lessons with Tim Lison (13 gold, 6 silvers, 3 bronze and 4 slayer swords.) I am not nearly as good as a painter as he is, but I definitely have had some good teachers. Tim has also sent me a few judging tips and a rubric. The other two judges we have 20+ years of painting between them and have won a few competitions themselves. I have all the faith in the world anyone that partakes in the competition will be very satisfied with the judges.

Sounds like you guys are good for me . I do say again though you may want to consider a best of show as well. It's more of a vanity.thing for us competitive painters but it helps draw in the legitimate competitions over time. Also i would narrow down your rules a Littleton more such base and diorama sizes as people can go way overboard. Also specify is basing will be.judged with the model or just the painting. Finally say if your willing to allow entries that won at other comps or not. Some do and some don't it can work both ways in or against you. I think you guys are off to a great start and i for one will be there as i love painting comps and with lovely trophies like that how can i resist.

We'll hash out a little bit more of the judging criteria and post it up ASAP. At this time there is no restriction on whether a model can be entered that has won a previous competition. Our thoughts are that a person's work should be able to win several competitions just as a movie or a song or any other piece of art can win multiple awards. I will say however that re-entering a previously entered model that has won our competition in the past in some regard without significant changes would be frowned upon and make it very difficult for us to consider it, though I won't rule it out completely. Being our 1st year, I don't think we'll need to worry about this yet.

Again thanks for all of your comments and we all look forward to seeing you there!
