So I was never really happy with how my space wolves army looked. After painting an entire guard army, my painting skills had improved somewhat, and the Sons of Russ just didn't cut it anymore. So. What to do, what to do. I've always wanted to build a White Scars army, and now it seems that I have need of a project and a bunch of spare marine parts that seem to match up fairly well.

Here are some reference pics:

Neither are mine, but you can see what I mean with the SW similarities: the wolf tails, teeth necklaces, etc.

So I stripped my entire SW army (except the LR, I need to get a bigger bucket ), and started de-wolf-ifying everything. Obvious SW icons were out, as were the classic bare heads. Here's what I've got so far on the rebuild...

Tactical Squad

Still not sure what color to do the eye lenses. Classic scheme is red, but I'm not sure. Seems like a lot of red. Maybe yellow to go with the Scars emblem?

Razorback

Some assembled stuff. If you see some green paint left over in there, it's only because they also used to be Dark Angels before Space Wolves There should be a badge they can wear for being in three different chapters

I like this guy. "Did you forget to eat lunch? How about a knuckle sandwich?" (I don't know why Dakka turned the pic. Sorry)

I picked up some DV bikes for cheap on eBay. Now I just need to shave of the ravenwing emblems. Not so tough on the normal guys...

Huge pain with the sarge.

What do you guys think? Leave the robes? Not very Scars-esque, but that would be a tough conversion.

I finished basing everything tonight. So priming tomorrow. On that not, I'm not very happy with the GW skull white primer. Seems like it pools up much easier than the Chaos black I'm used to and doesn't cover nearly as well...

Anyways, CC always appreciated

Cheers,
Rawson

LOL.... what a great hobby recycler you are^^

i think your white scars look very good... crisp white paintjob by the way... and we all know that´s no easy task!
i would keep the robes... these always ooze coolness... and i bet there could be a fluffy explanation for them too... also...using wolfen models for a white scar army is quite a smart move! i think the lookis a very good addition...

Yeah, keep the robes, too much hassle to take them off. You could paint them to look like silk robes like what the mongols likely took off the chinese, or simply make them more barbarian looking by adding a fur trim to them. You could also paint them as being leather, maybe put some studs on them.
