Guard Heavy Weapon Crewman

I have considered starting a p&m blog for months. Some of my buddies wanted me to track my IG army. When 6th edition came out I decided it was time for the Guard to get some allies. I read over the various Marine chapters, and ultimately listed 3 for my g/f to decide between (BA/GK/Ultras). She chose BA. And that is how this project started.

The project is about 7 months old since that day. Most of the time has been looking through the codex, checking and collecting bitz and planning the early core of the army. My original plan has expanded from just a small contingent of allies to a full blown army.
I currently have 1 Tact Squad, 1 ASM squad, 1 Sang Guard squad, and a 5 man DC painted up. My Stormraven will be done (and hopefully posted up in the next 48 hrs) before the weekend is up. I also have some other squads/models in various states that I will put up including a kitbash Captain Tycho.

Here is my first Assault Squad painted up. I am not a fan of the traditional "ASM wear yellow helmets" bit.
Also a pic of a kitbashed JP Captain w/ Fist and Plasma Pistol. Captain's aren't the greatest for rules atm, but I really thought the idea looked cool. Still working on the Captain.
I'm primarily using these two shoulder pads. The wings go on units with jump packs. Non-wings for non-JP units. The torso is what I plan on using for when I work on a unit of Vanguard Vets or Sternguard, have not decided which yet but I have 10 of these torsos ready to go!

Here is my Captain Tycho. I am having a dilemma in regards of what color to make his armor. I am painting/playing him as the Captain, not DC.
I have already strayed from BA "fluff" colors in a couple of ways. First, I did not do the yellow helmets for ASM. If I make a Dev squad, they will not get blue heads. If I do an Honor Guard/Van Vets or Sternguard I will probably give them gold helmets though. I like to use gold, but have shied away from it as a main armor color.
For Tycho I am down to three colors. Red, Gold and off-white (Ulthuan Grey). I have a white colored Sang Guard as opposed to the traditional gold. (some call it Angels Encarmine, yet my guys neither have black wings nor are my DC white. They are traditional black). I thought this was a striking color to use that still fit within the army color scheme. I am leaning towards this as well with Tycho. If I do it will help him stand out on the field more and also at the same time would keep all of my artificer army currently the same color. I am really leaning this way but want to get some opinions.
Below are a pic of Tycho as well as a pic of the Sang Guard unit. Please note that the white does looks a little blotchy but this is not the actual case with the models. My camera is not the best. Still I think it shows well enough the true color of what I am going for.

I'm working on a Furioso, Librarian, 2 Sanguinary Priests and a Land Raider Crusader currently. The Land Raider I am working on the slowest, I add a few details on it between working on other units.
The Libby I splashed paint on it to see how it'd look. I greenstuffed two blood drops on it. The shoulder pad one I think needs to be trimmed down a little.
For my Sanguinary Priests, I decided to kitbash them. Their shoulders are wings w/ the chalice on them. They will go with JP units.

Stormraven! All the weapons are magnetized except the TL-LC (it is in the magnetize queue along with my 2nd Vendetta).
The missile tips on the Typhone launcher are the same gold as the multi-melta. Bad angle on my part.
