humm i like the look of the red, but with all kabal i think they use a kinda dark crystal/glass armor so id say wash it a few times with nul oil and then do a 50/50 of red wash and nul oil. thats almost exactly what i do with my kabal but with blue and i think the really dark recesses and the high lights shows vary well on them.

Oh also try working in a bright color on there heads, like white, yellow or green for you. the extra color will break up the sea of red!

Here's a tutorial you might be able to use. Only part one (so you'll have to find 2 and 3 if you like). Its for dark eldar wyches, but the technique could be used on kabalite warriors.

Yeah, I agree with this, adding in a brighter spot colour will make them stand out much better. Give them blue hair or something. Or perhaps paint a knee or shoulder pad a different colour. But the red and black looks good.

that's a great looking paint scheme. as others have pointed out, a spot color would help. a green top knot, a gold kneepad (do they all have knee pads? that's one thing that drives me crazy about space marines... half of them don't have knee pads!), green/blue soul gems or eye lenses, etc. anything alone those lines. also, give some thought to how you're going to work that color into the rest of your army.

I look forward to seeing some painted minis with this scheme

Hello! Great color choice. I actually play the kabal of the flayed skull myself and here is a pic of my WIP Tantalus to show you my take on the color scheme. You can see a few more of my models here: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/489709.page

I chose to use blue as my spor color. It is a nice sharp contrast to the models and makes for a striking army on the field.

I base red (dragon red primer)
wash red (gw carroburg crimson)
light drybrush dragon red (from army painter)
light drybrush a medium orange (gw name alludes me)
then hardline the same orange followed by a wash of the GW red glaze (bloodletter)

I follow a similar step for the blue.
