Whats up dakka!

So I've painted up two test models, and I need your guy's help decided which to go with for my scheme!

Don't need any critiquing, I know I could clean up some of the washing and working on my highlights!

Im going for a relatively quick scheme here that will look good on the table. Yes I will take more time on IC's and larger units. I have no problem with suggestions for different color combinations to make things pop more or to tie things in or to add contrast.

The first one is just flat non metallic grey, I primed white then base coated with dawnstone, followed by an all over wash of nuln oil. Then details and sepia wash over them. While not terribly difficult it is still harder than the second scheme.

Second scheme is army painter platemail primer, all over nuln oil wash and then details and sepia wash over them pretty simple but I think it looks good.

Now I like the flat grey scheme idea better, and I like it thats it a little different from "classic" knights. But I sadly think that the silver scheme looks better. So I don't know what to do!

Thanks for the help guys! Heres the pics!

Scheme 2, to me is the more appealing of the two. Scheme 1 seems a bit too drab, while scheme 2 pops a bit more. The only thing I would change is the face grill, white IMO just detracts.

I'm going to break ranks here and say that I rather like Scheme 1; it makes them a bit different than every other 'stock' GK army out there. I will say that I think that white might suit the visor on Scheme 1 a bit better, though, and that I do prefer the orange fuel canister to the yellow.

I agree that Scheme 1 looks a bit flat. Possibly (if it wouldn't drag out your painting process too much) try adding some silver elements to it? Maybe on pulse on rims/cuirass centrepiece etc.

Just my two cents, of course. I'm sure they'll look fantastic whichever scheme you settle on!

To me, the pictures for Scheme 1 seem out of focus compared to Scheme 2, so that may skew the results a bit. I like both (my own GK will be in a Hawk Lords color scheme), but 2 does seem to pop out a bit more, but again, that may be due to picture quality.

Scheme 1, no doubt. More original.

It needs some fix ups, but you know that already. Good work on both.

I like both, but scheme 1's color palette just makes me think too much of a Space Wolf rather than a Grey Knight.

If you were to add a much brighter gold (or even a platinum!) color to offset the drab grey on the armor inscriptions, I think it would pop a lot more and serve to offset the Space Wolf vibe the colors you're using give off.
Oh! And if you're comfortable enough doing it, you could also add a kind of heraldic pattern to the pure red shoulderpad rather than just leaving it as pure red.

Scheme 1, but keep the armour as a metal instead of flat grey.

Thanks guys awesome feedback!

The camera was out of focus for the first one oddly enough. I'm going to go with scheme 1, but go back over the wash to make it look more like unpainted ceramite and less like space wolves. Fix up the little issues change the canister a bit, do some work on the shoulder pad. Change the weapon detail from black to red and keep the face mask silver.

If I get around to it when everything is said and done ill put up the finished army on the showcase.

Appreciate the suggestions! Thanks guys!
