I was staring at my small number of Necron models not too long ago, and I decided that I don't particularly enjoy giving them personalities, or political standings etc. That would just make them dead humans... So I decided to invent The Death Legion.

The Death Legion were one of the first Tomb Worlds to awaken, but unlike the other Necrons, these are simple killing machines. Aren't they?
Truth be told, not even other Necrons know. At some point during hibernation, the Tomb world's data stores were completely wiped. Furthermore, all knowledge of this particular Tomb world seems to have been removed from all other Tombs, and it is thought that even the Silent King does not know who they are.

Their first action upon awakening was to clear their planet, and star system of whatever it was that woke them up, and since then they have been on a crusade to annihilate anything that lives, or bears sentience.

The Imperium of Man has suffered defeat at the hands of these Necrons many times, and even the likes of Imotekh the Stormlord have grown wary of their existence.
Few sentient Necrontyr have fought them, but whenever the Death Legion wins, their numbers grow. Whenever they fail, all remenants of their existence is removed, with all of it's living metal phasing out, and being sent back into circulation, ready to kill again.

They have not lost their technology, but they have lost their sentience. They are allowed to live by virtue of the fact that there is not yet a tactical advantage to be gained for the other Necrontyr by destroying them. But all Necrontyr who have learned of their existence are very much aware that this may change quickly.

As far as anyone knows yes, though they aren't (yet) led by a C'tan, and I may get a character with a bit more brainpower than an AI program

Cool!.
With my previous post I didn't mean anything negative, to clarrify.
I think it is a good way to make the Necrons the way yo want them. it's better then saying 'The Newcron fluff is not legal in my opninion OMG LULZ'. You made your own Dynasty that is just one big mystery. Even though it is a small amount of text, well done sir, 'cause I like the idea

I was split between you either stating what you've done or you were trying to tell a story, either way I liked it.

Come into my web, said the spider to the fly.
Come rest your wings, and let us talk eye to eye.
For I am a spider, and you are the fly. Now that you are here, let us sit, and say hi.
But I have have no morsel to share, nor anything to eat. But wait, what is that stickiness upon your feet.
Ah now I have you, now I can eat. Now I can enjoy you, or store you as meat.
For I am the spider, and you are the fly. How else could it have gone, between one such as you, and one such as I.
