Below is my painting and modeling log for a Scavy gang, and a Pitslave Gang. I am a newb to necromunda, haven't played it yet, but have the original box set, and was inspired by the amazing work by PDH, Neil101, and Jon Blanche. Let's give credit where it is due. Many of the concepts of combining these parts, were created by these guys, and many of them are based upon photos of their work.

Next steps:

Three more scavies
Figure out the head for the chaos ogryn scavy boss-it seems funky still
Green stuff

Any advice or comments more than welcome!

Hey, these are off to a great start. Love the pitslaves, very much inspired by John Blanche's pitslaves and they are certainly looking cool. Maybe try to keep them looking distinct from the scavvies - I think having a plaguebearer bodied ganger in each gang might look a bit similar?

I am not sure how fussed you are about actually playing but it might be an idea to check the weapon loads. For example, in a Pitslave gang (using the Anthony Case rules - the best rules) you can have half of the gang armed with two pitslave weapons. These guys are called pitfighters and are the most fun of all Necromunda models, absolute close combat beasts. Add some chainsaws and hammers as they are the two most powerful weapons. The pitslave chief is allowed 3 weapons, 2 of which can be pitslave weapons like buzzsaws but then he also gets an extra arm. A flamer is a pretty damn good option for this arm! Oh and the technos are the only guys allowed rifles other than the chief, it's tempting to give them something with a decent range as pitslaves have real trouble in shooting matches.

For the scavvies I think the plague ogryn would be better used to represent a scaly as they are the big, tough guys. The scavvie boss is a weakling. They are also able to get quite heavy guns like harpoon guns and scatter cannons. The ghoul body/plaguebearer limbs scavy looks great.

Keep up the good work.

It's always good to see new people jump into the world of Necromunda. You're off to a great start!

Since you're new to Necromunda, check out the link below, which is a compilation of the the White Dwarf articles for Confrontation, which was the precursor to Necromunda. It is a great resource for some background information on the world that is Necromunda.

You can never beat your first time. The second generation is shinier, stronger, faster and superior in every regard save one, and it's an unfair criticism to level, but it simply can't be as original. - Andy Chambers, on the evolution of Games Workshop games

Bruitcus- thanks for the advice! I think I'll take the plaguebearer body pitslave and make him a scavy ganger by modifying him. Thanks for the playing advice as well, this will help me model these for a real game. I'll have to check out the Anthony case rules. Did know about the scavy boss being usually a bit weak. Looking forward to green stuffing blunderbusses for the scavies.

Starfarer- thanks for the link, I've been looking for this to get more info on the necromunda world. Ill check it out.

Cool cool. Hope you're going to play the Necromunda Community Edition.

Really like the scavvy with autogun. Might have to borrow that idea.

As Bruticus says the plague ogryn doesn't really work as a boss...may work at a scally. The rotary gun could be count as scatter cannon.

PDH- Thanks for the feedback Peter!

Small update.
Added three more scavys, the ogryn will now be a scally, however, still not sure about the head.

I think the head is absolutely perfect. I love Quovandius head with tube mouth.

The angry chappy with shotgun is pretty cool too.

Yep looks totally spot on to me.

You could do your other scally a bit smaller so you can fit at least one of them in some cover - Necromunda is quite unforgiving to giant models that can never hide behind walls!
