My first time with Finecast. Everyone remembers their first time, and this wasn't a great memory.

The texture felt weird and the flash was ridiculous! I didn't like the end result and I feel, if the model was plastic, the same paint job might seem better (?).

Please have a look and tell me what you think!

Note: I just sand-based the Base of the model. To be painted once dry with flock to be added later! There is still some fine sand to be brushed off at the feet of Belial.

I think the purple is a nice touch, my ropes and such are generally a dark red/maroon, I also just couldn't stand the pose on this model so I kit bashed my own Belial from one of the Terminator box sets. Looks good though, I am fairly envious of the face!

Dark Angels should not be painted with that particular color in my mind! But beside that its an okay model I suppose

I don't know if it's just me or the photo quality, but it seems like the model has a really odd grittiness to the paint job.

I prefer fuschia and plaid with mauve highlights myself.

Thanks mate! Since I started painting termies, I decided to color the ropes purple to try to make it stand out from the bone of the Deathwing and the red from the Storm Bolters. The face is no biggie, just paint and wash!

It's the best interpretation I could come up with for the moment. What color scheme do you suggest?

Don't get me started mate! The Finecast looks like everything is falling apart! I was complaining above that the texture was so bad, it looked like I was painting on a rough brick wall!

Any idea on how to get around that? Is it just me? Am I the only one with this issue?

It's not just you. I've had to return three Belials already and still haven't gotten one I liked. I keep finding holes in the back vent area. It's ridiculous.

As for my colors, I was joking, but I have a link in my signature if you care.

It seems that the paint job appeared better, more polished (kind-of) after I matte varnished it....

I think the purple is fine touch, its said purple is a kingly color.

Finecast is a nightmare don't worry about it, GW has said its switching everything to plastic again.

I think the gritty look makes it look battle worn, good touch with how you did it!

PS: I didn't actually do anything to the Finecase, I just ignored it.. LOL

That is why I converted my own Belial. Finecast is not worth the price.

Nicely done.

It doesn't help GW much that you can kitbash a quite acceptable "counts as" Belial out of the new Deathwing box set. It makes the DW box set an excellent value, but doesn't give much reason to get Belial's mini. I've gone through four myself trying to get one that isn't messed up.

I'm also taking a TH/SS to be magnetized for Belial's 2nd set of arms...
