If you're going to be painting with basic flat colours like that, you should consider washing over everything with a water-ed down ink wash in a dark brown or black. That will provide some simple shading, and smooth out rough edges. If you're feeling more ambitious, you can always try drybrushing over the top, too. After inking to get shadows, get just a little paint on the brush, with a lighter color, say a medium-light blue for the surcoat, and then lightly brush it over the raised points. It'll take you an extra ten minutes and make a huge difference.

Something like that, yeah! But maybe less green-ish, if you want to quickly to the whole model. I find too, that you can just use craft-store acrylic. When you want to use inks/shades, just water it down, a lot. One of my local stores sells 2.5oz bottles for $8, quite a bit cheaper than the $3-4 for 0.4oz from GW. The other local store sells paints for $1-10 for 3oz. There really seems to be no funcitonal difference. Just make sure you water the paints down a bit, but you should really do that with the GW citadel colours too!

Good Luck!
