Hey Guys-

I have been working on a themed army for a bit, trying to figure out a color scheme (sorry if this is the incorrect forum)

I need advice, as I have tried a few options and have yet to find one that I enjoy.

I am doing a themed army, previously it was going to be Valkyries, but I have since changed to Angels, as it allows for more customization and use of heads and has more lore to it.

Deathwing Knights will be modeled as Seraphims (6 wings)

Terminators will be Cheribs (4 Wings)

Regular guys will be angels as they are depicted, with a pair of wings, etc.

The colors I've tried out are different variations of Blue power armor and white robes, building up layers from dark to lighter to give it shades.

Any advice on colors, or even maybe some new ideas would be appreciated!

interesting idea. Because its hard to get a real idea of what you have in mind for your army, I guess I would have to see some prototypes of the army before I could make any recommendations. I do like the color choice though...and even think you could inverse it with white power armor and blue robes...either way would work well. I look foward to seeing some of your work

Here are a few samples of what I messed with this weekend. I think part of my problem is that it just seems dull, but the bright electric blue is too much

I would like it if you painted the wings white (if you haven`t already, i can`t tell!) and then washed it with a blue shade.

well the color scheme doesnt seem dull. Are you using two different color hues of blue? I actually like that bright blue. When you mentioned the army being angel themed I imagined the blue to be more pastel looking; a very light blue to compliment the white robes. I would recommend experimenting with the metallics. try using silver in plave of the gold and see if it changes the look for you. I think the gold makes them closely resemble UM....which isnt what you want.

You also mentioned blending up to a light blue from a darker blue. If this is the foundation color you are starting with and blending up from here....I would suggest starting even lighter than this. Keep playing around to find what you like if your not satisfied....simple green is your friend for starting over with the paint scheme ...I will check for updates.....best of luck!

I think the light blue with white robes and wings will work, and I agree that the move from the gold is needed to keep them from looking like ultrasmurfs. Since it is a DA army have you thought about (or are you using) ravenwing. That would give you an opposing view of angels in your army; kinda like a black and white/ yin and yang. This could just be me wanting to add more black wings.
