I have done something similar to this. I used the non-foam dozen egg cartons and they came out looking pretty decent.

Yeah I forgot that in the States many of the egg cartons are foam, but I guess No More Nails or something similar would be better than PVA glue in that case.

Yeah, but I try to use the cardboard/pulped paper version when I can. I don't like working with foam.
