MAJOR UPDATE: As stated in a post further down, my army was stolen around Thanksgiving time. Therefore, all of this beginning WIP stuff is now nil since the models are probably in a trash heap somewhere. HOWEVER, I am leaving it all up because with the start of my new army, I will slowly be tying the old and the new together in an interesting way. This means that all of this stuff that is now "useless" is actually relevant. You'll see eventually, once I get all the models up and modeled!

I've been playing 40k without models for a few years now with a close group of friends, but I decided it was finally high time to actually buy some models and try my hand at putting them together! So for posterity and my own sake I'm going to start keeping a log of this first little army of mine. I apologize if it doesn't get updated often due to my rather hectic life outside modelling, but I'll post pictures from time to time.

Keep in mind I'm ALWAYS open to opinions, advice, constructive criticism, praise, beatification, donations, a - *GET ON WITH IT!*

*Ahem* Yes! So, to the army... I'm in the process of building an Imperial Guard mobile armored infantry list. Please keep in mind these are literally the first and only models I've ever attempted to make, so if you have to shield your eyes from beginner-level paint jobs and occasionally poor GS or kitbashes, you may want to avert yoru eyes now! But if you can bear with me I promise I'll get better after a while (I hope!)

The goal game-wise is to make the most survivable army possible; I'm not one to toss men into the fire just to smother it. I plan on upgrading the crap out of everything; I want to make every shot count.

The goal model-wise is to make the most intense, resourceful, badass, and life-like-looking company possible. I am much better at modelling than I am at painting, and as such I've established a basic paint scheme but I'm going to most likely extensively customize the majority of the army. I've got a lot of ideas that I've already started on, as well as some I just wrote down in a to-do list for later. I'll get into the nitty-gritty of all the ideas and show you how I did them if you are interested later.

BASIC ARMY INFO

Name: 101st Sol Shadow Scorchers
Tactical Doctrine: Heavy Assault Armored Infantry (Specialize in extremely powerful sudden strikes)
Official Motto: "Make every shot count."
Unofficial Motto: "We're here to f*** s*** up."
Model Types: Generally, I'll be using a lot of Cadian Shock Troops for infantry but there's a good number of other things I'll be tacking on as well... I've already started making some Veterans with Pig Iron Productions helmets, I'm looking at Dark Eldar arms, Glade Guard cloaks, Infinity Ariadna Highlanders, etc etc... For vehicles too I'm looking into a very motley assortment... I've got an Apache helicopter to use as a Vendetta, I might get a Panzer IV for a Russ... You see where this is going.
Paint Colors: Black, Red, White, Gold.

THE FLUFF

Spoiler:
The story of the Shadow Scorchers begins, as most do in the 40th Millenium in the middle of a battle on some far-flung world. The men in question were simply a company among hundreds, a rather small heavy infantry company outfitted with mobile artillery and heavy weaponry, attempting to take back a world under siege from one alien menace or another, whether it was 'Nids or Orks or Chaos does not matter. What matters was their self-created exile and vilification.

On the eve of what the company commander and his trusted CO's had planned to be the final assault, a commissar was assigned to the regiment. The company's commander had planned a daring and decisive strike on the heart of the enemy, one which would, if successful, break the back of their opponents and allow the rest of the Guard presence on the planet to push them back. This commissar happened to be one of those leading the entire planetary force, and as such was very well decorated. He had heard tell of the commander's plan and had come to improve it.

When he showed up in the command tent he was met with rather hostile attitudes; the man had a reputation for disregarding the value of life in favor of getting things done quickly. He rapidly ripped to shreds the ingenious plan the company had put together, replacing it with his own for them which, coupled with a massive push afterwards by their neighboring companies, would end the hostile invasion in a matter of days.

The mission he gave to them was also blatantly suicidal. The commander was outraged at the commissar's insistence that they throw an entire company away simply for the sake of time; the original plan may have been slower, but it would save more lives than just those of his own company. He therefore, refused to comply. The commissar, however, denounced the man of heresy for defying orders and whipped his pistol out to summarily execute the "flippant" commander.

Unfortunately for said commissar, the command squad prided themselves on quick-draw skills, and the man was riddled with a good 13 holes before he could draw his weapon. The company's commander decided the assault would begin immediately under cover of night.

The company was in trouble, obviously. The entire command squad were guilty of murdering a commissar, and one leading the army at that. They knew they'd have to deal with being branded traitors, and find some way to dodge the other regiments which would soon be hunting them. As such, the commander ordered his men to erase their visible identification; they used their copious numbers of flamers to burn the paint off of all their equipment, scorching it in the process, while finding one way or another to blacken their uniforms.

The company set out as quickly and quietly as possible, making their way to the target to initiate the assault their commander had devised. Just before launching it, however, they were surprised to see an explosion rather nearby, with a firefight breaking out between the enemy and some hidden group of assailants. The company quickly seized upon the confusion, flanking the majority of the enemy from the side in the firefight while their artillery positioned to an area being vacated by the enemy before unleashing hell upon the targets, decimating whatever the enemy had held so precious to their invasion.

The mysterious distraction turned out to be a group of Astartes scouts, Raven Guard snipers and sappers. Their Captain, accompanying the scout squads, apparently had had the exact same plan the commander of the company, and commended the company for their resourcefulness and ability to react so quickly and efficiently. The Raven Guard Captain informed the commander that he was in-system simply to attempt to make an incisive strike and then leave; his superiors valued strong independence and as such gave him leave to take actions as he saw fit to better protect humanity, with very few bounds. At this, the Commander revealed his own story to the Captain, and though the Captain had never heard of the Guard regiment they'd been previously, he remembered the Commissar whom he'd disliked immensely.

The Captain found himself sympathizing with the Commander and the Guard company, and agreed to aid them as long as they'd give aid back; the Captain and his battle-brothers may have been more reliant on stealth, but he recognized the need of heavy weapons, of which they had recently lost most of theirs. The Raven Guard company took the displaced Guard company under their wing, and now they accompany each other, fighting for the same victories on every planet they reach, if not fighting side by side.

WHAT THE FLUFF MEANS TO THE ARMY

Spoiler:
As a form of subsidiary of the Raven Guard, there are a lot of twinges of Raven Guard ideals in this army.

The company, being independent from the Imperial Guard as a body now, must go without reinforcements and often without 'traditional' resupply efforts. As such, the army as a whole is forced to fight tooth and nail with whatever they have on hand, never wasting what they do have. Being part of the Raven Guard, however, gives them access to very high quality equipment on the occasion that they do resupply, however. Most of the troopers eschew general-issue weaponry in favor of customized and personalized equipment, swapping their lasguns out for high-powered rifles, or tweaking the barrels or grips to suit their tastes. This is a common theme in the army pertaining to modelling; rarely will you see copy-pasted troopers all aiming down the sights of a flashlight. There are some, sure, those who truly like their lasguns or the less-veteran troopers, but the majority will have something different.

The paint scheme I actually decided on far before I made the fluff but it fits; the base color for everything is jet black, as if it was all scorched by flamers, though much of the metal of their weapons and vehicles originally was a sort of unique goldish metal which was not scorched so easily, and as such you will see many metal objects glittering faintly; I drybrush gold on these. Aside from that, the rest of the paint scheme is generally white on certain parts with red trim i.e. the shoulderpads on the Guardsmen are white with a red border, and most of the belts are red. You'll see what I mean when I post pictures. Funnily enough, this came out looking like a variant on Raven Guard colors, which was a pure coincidence.

I'll get some pictures up as quick as I can of the models already painted and those in progress. Enjoy your read!

Alright so let me get a quick post in here of all the models I have done so far... Well most of them at least. I apologize for the lower quality of some of the pictures, I don't have my good camera right now so I'm using a dinky little palm digital camera that doesn't let me tweak any settings except flash and timer.

Spoiler:

There are all but one of my models that I have up and started on (I lent a Guardsman to a friend last weekend to proxy as a Farseer). The guys in the back I'm waiting for gs to dry on. So there's the paint scheme; blackened everything with some red paint slapped on for trim, and white when it's a good idea, and gold to make metal pop (as well as show ranks on the shoulders).

Spoiler:

This picture from the back is a bit toned down so you can see more of the detailing I was getting at with the gold.

Spoiler:

Here's a good example of what I'm looking at doing as far as the modelling goes; see the two guys in the front on the right? The far right guy I screwed around with, shaving off bits of torso and on occasion bending it to make him have that "roadie-runner" look of a man sprinting or charging. The flamer guy I tweaked the arms on and cut off the strap of the flamer to make him hold it out straight, not to the side like he's just walking with it. I'll probably put the fuel tank on a sling on his back or hanging off his leg just because.

Spoiler:

This guy I swapped the hands of his weapons; once the green stuff dries, I'll put the sword in his right hand and the pistol in his left. I looked at the positions they'll be in and I really like it; the sword will be going diagonally across his chest, protecting his torso, while the angle of the hand his pistol will go in will make it look almost like a Luger with how the hand sits in relation to the pistol.

Spoiler:

This is an example of what most of my Veterans will look like: Pig Iron Productions makes damned good helmets, and I like this carbine-style lasgun job I'm doing. I know it's a bit blurry, I was having to snap the picture one-handed and my hands are extremely shaky as it is.

So what do you guys think? If there's anything you'd like me to explain how to do with any of these things I post don't hesitate to ask, I'm always up to helping out!

Another update, last night and the night before I worked a bit on one particular model to get his weapons right and also a new piece of terrain that I think I'll make a bit of a motif in my army... At least for whenever I play. See, I posted a thread asking about what computers are like in 40k and with the responses I got back I figure that on some forge worlds there's probably some REALLY big computers, as in miles long (possibly) controlling the vast assembly lines.

So then I though "Gee, there must be some awesome fights in those things if a forge world goes under siege..." Then I looked over at my box of computer guts I'd been saving for something like this and after about half an hour of blowtorching and ripping and re-gluing...

In this first picture, the guy on the right is the new model. I swapped the hands of his weapons to make his sword cover his chest and give his pistol that almost Luger-esque feel from the grip.

Finally, time for an update... It's been a good long while since I even thought about 40k, what with college preparations and working 70 hours a week over the summer (getting out of high school in this day and age is a mind flip sometimes). But in light of the recent Norcon gaming convention that I spent a weekend at here in Northern California, I'm back at it! I also am finally planning out some of the model purchases I will be making, after my most recent ones.

Speaking of purchases, I want to give many thanks to MrMoustaffa for the Starship Troopers powered armor minis, they are EXACTLY what I was wanting with this army! That's the big update for me, I'm working on mixing and matching bits from the Starship Troopers minis of which I have several boxes... I only plan on using 1 or 2 boxes right now so max of 15 models, and keeping at least 2 others for two purposes; one to use later when I'm more skilled with miniatures and the other in the hopes that some day someone will have the skill to reproduce these things well!

*Begins praying to the god of 3D printing*

Well without any further ado, here's what I've got so far! Again, I know my pictures aren't the best quality, getting this camera to focus on what I want it to is a real trick.

Spoiler:

At this point there is no "theme" to the army as far as modeling goes except for perhaps a theme of "baddassery" if such a theme exists. I'm just trying to make every model look straight out of an action movie, no boring cookie cutter poses. The above picture and the next pair of models I think illustrate that idea of hardened veterans. Need some more close combat efficiency on your lasgun? Stick a comb-flamer on it. Break your wrist and can't aim a rifle? Pick up a flamer and use it instead.

I like flamers, if you can't tell.

Spoiler:

Spoiler:

For the record I cannot reccomend Pig Iron heads enough! These things make a fantastic addition to any humanoid army, I can see them on Space Marines easily, possibly on Tau and even Eldar. You can't beat the quality for the price; the heads I got look like something straight out of Halo!

Spoiler:

This last one is a torso that MrMoustaffa threw in the box, I believe it is Dreamforge? At any rate I slapped it on a pair of Starship Trooper legs and called it good. This is my personal favorite weapon I've made so far... I'm not sure if .50 cal lasguns exist but if not they should. Now if I could just paint his face dark brown and get a fat cigar in his mouth I'd have one manly marine!

I suppose that's it for now, I'm still looking over what all I want to buy for vehicles and such but I'm getting a small force built up so why not start getting some eh? I'll be in touch.

And after a few days of stewing on it, I've pounded down a decision on a few new models I'm going to order soon... My primary vehicles will be a contingent of Valkyries/Vendettas and an even split between tanks and artillery. So what will I be using?

Well to kick off my air support I bought a pair of Apache models today to test the sizes out. One was 1:48 and one was 1:72. As I understand it 1:72 is usually appropriate for aircraft models, but that seems to hold untrue for helicopters being used as Valkyries. I suppose it's partly due to the fact that GW usually makes transports ginormous so you could "logically" fit models in them but while a 1:72 F-16 may be good for a Lightning, the Apache is much too small. Comparing dimensions though, the 1:48 is just about right so score one for me there, the kit was only $20 US!

As for Tanks and Artillery... Russes and Bassies are already pretty much WW1/WW2 style anyways, and after seeing a friend playing Bolt Action I'm sold on the good quality of their miniatures, both the metal and resin ones. The key thing with Bolt Action for me is also the price; King Tiger or Flak 36 88mm for $40? 25-Pounder for $32 and 17-pounder for $25? Hell yes, says I.

So I'm looking at buying a motley assortment... Definitely a Panzer IV, Panther, and Sherman Firefly for standard Russes and/or Vanquishers. I'll grab some mobile guns like their Marder III Ausf. M to use as enclosed Basilisks, and most of the field artillery like howitzers and 88's come with wheeled carriages that would function fine for use as Eartshkers. I was thinking of taking a Cromwell/Crusader tank and replacing the turret's gun with something that looks plasma-esque for an Executioner or just finding some large flamethrower bitz and sticking one on there to make it work as a Hellhound. Any ideas for that conversion?

Past vehicles, I'm also going to order the Dystopian Legion Drummer Boy models and stick one or two into some squads to function as Vox-casters along with bagpipers thanks to Victoria Lamb's awesome conversion bits. I'm still looking for a trumpeteer with a Louis Armstrong vibe, but I haven't looked very far... Anyone know of some good arm bitz or models with a trumpet being held to the lips?

To spruce up the infantry I'm also going to order some pulse rifles (Aliens style, not Tau), camo cloaks, and a bunch of shotguns since at this point much of my playstyle and concept revolves around either plasma or close combat vet squads, usually dropped in from Vendettas after the tanks/arty soften everything up. I also like the idea of having a couple robots in the army... So I went out of my way to find non-Necron humanoid models and lo and behold em4 robots!

Along those lines, has anyone seen any kitbashes of Fire Warriors with IG infantry? I like everything about the Fire Warrior models for a kitbash except the feet and hands that would look very out of place.

Hopefully this stuff gets here fast and I can get back to model-assembling! After I get through this wave of conversions I'm thinking I'll get some samurai models and see what I can do with everything except the heads...

Alright, the first wave of my newest orders just came in so I'll throw the pictures up like normal. I finally got the hang of getting my phone's pictures right-side up, and whodathunkit that my phone is actually higher resolution that my little digital camera?

First is a new pair of drummers from the Dystopian Legions line. I'm debating keeping/removing the pith helmet but I'm not sure at this point... The field cap guy looks good though, the uniform fits in well enough. To the left you'll see one of my previously posted models, now primed and MUCH more in-focus than last time.

Spoiler:

Second is a set of Forlorn Hope miniatures, 4 skeletal Terminator-esque robot soldiers. I'm stoked to see how these guys come out with painting, the models themselves are killer! The guy in the back in the middle is a model I noticed that has some sort of high-tech datapad thing he's screwing with, I figured I'd stick him with the robots as the controller or something... I doubt with the bad blood between humans and robots in 40k that anybody would want ANY sort of autonomy with these things!

Spoiler:

Third is a group of scavengers I got from Forlorn Hope also, I thought perhaps it would be befitting to keep all these models together. As I was snapping the pics I started thinking of fluff; without the standard timely reinforcements most Guard regiments enjoy, it would make sense that the regiment would pick up some mercenaries along the way...

Next up: Pulse Rifles, X-Wing Pilots, Terminators, and... Samurai? This is getting to be one big sci-fi smashup...

Time for an update after a good month of model building! Still no painting yet (sorry!) but I'll get to it pretty quick, as I finally have enough models made to pull together a decent army list! I started matching the models to the 'dex and deciding what each would be kitted with, and so without further ado, I'll take stock of who is what!

Veteran Squad 1 of 3: Plasma Vets with Harker!

This squad consists primarily of Starship Trooper models, outfitted with 3 Plasma Rifles, the Sarge as "Harker," an autocannon team, and a vox-caster. The Plasma gunners are featured in the second picture, and are sporting Pulse Rifles (yes, as you'd see with Colonial Marines in Aliens) as plasmas, as will every plasma gunner in the army! A quick stock-replacement job made them fit perfectly, and after I make a custom melta-pistol for the one on the far right they'll be ready to paint. The model in the back (completely primed) with the very large sniper rifle will be Sgt. Harker for now until I fix him up or make a better stand-in model. The two stooges on the left (one berating the other for a bad shot or something) will be the gunners for the Pak 40 "Autocannon" shown in the center. I'm going to magnetize their bases and place magnets in the base of the Autocannon so I can take the two of them off the base and replace them with ze Germans in the case of a Bolt Action match! Finally, the other models not mentioned will just be lasgunners, including the model right by the cannon which will soon be a prone-positioned Guardsman.

Oh, and I just figured out how to make cloaks out of greenstuff last night. The whole squad will have camo cloaks when I finish.

Vet Squad 2 of 3: Flamers, Demolitions, and Shotgun Samurai

Yup. My standard close combat models are shotgun-wielding samurai. This squad has 3 flamers (1 which may be heavy), and has taken the Demolitionists Doctrine, resulting in a very pyromaniacal grouping. The flamers are fairly simple; hacked-together poses with various flamer styles in the back right. The dude on the far left with the flamer up and fuel tank in his hand is the sergeant preparing to lob the Prometheum tank as a demo charge. The "standard" guys with shotguns are samurai bodies with Victoria shotguns and aesthetic cloaks. Still debating what to do for heads as I don't want to just throw on samurai heads. Any suggestions anyone? As for the two normal Cadians... They're just a standin until I decide if a heavy weapon should go there or until I make 2 more shotgun samurai.

Vet Squad 3 of 3: Scavengers and Robots (Again)

Okay, I lied. Not all of the Plasma gunners will have pulse rifles. Some will just be robots with robot-worthy weapons! I posted a picture of these guys before, but this picture is a bit better quality and shows a bit of the battle scarring I'm putting on them, early in the process as it may be. The squad will have 3 plasmas (robots on the left side) as well as an autocannon (robot and controller on the left side, will be put onto a 60mm base). The rest of the squad will be the scavengers that you can see in the post above, I won't bother with another pic since I haven't done anything to them yet.

Company Command Squad: Smashups are fun!

Here you have the head group of this ragtag company, which is far from finished but is cool (read silly) enough to be worth posting a picture of. First off you'll see the Company Commander, the Warrior Girl with her leather skirt outfit and lasgun shouldered. I haven't made a true "commander" model so this is what I'll use for now. I know she works better for Marbo but she's still got good flair as a commander. In her retinue are currently 2 bodyguards (See the fully primed model in the back left with the sword and pistol, as well as the poor schmuck just to the left of the commander who just had his arm shot off and a hole put through his chest... I'll paint up the gore soon!) as well as Commander Wedge Antilles as the "Officer of the Fleet." The other 3 models are a Starship Troopers sniper, a Catachan with a man-sized plasma/melta combo, and Sigourney Weaver with the Pulse (Plasma) Rifle on the left. I still need to make an Astropath and Master of Ordnance, which I have ideas for and just need to get the bitz for...

Vehicles: Off we go into the wild blue yonder, eh?

So, there's this Apocalypse game coming up in a few weeks right? And I needed to get some vehicles on the board that could contend with Apoc but can't afford a Baneblade, right? So then I thought "Airplanes?" And lo and behold what will soon be my model for a Marauder Destroyer! I don't care that it's got a 24" wingspan, a full 7 or 8 inches more than the Marauder... It's just classic.

Aside from the big boy I also have a couple of Apache models, the large one for a Valkyrie and the small one without a prop for a Vulture. I also have a Cobra chopper sitting in a box that I can assemble right quick to make another Valk/Vendetta. Next to those two you can see my first vehicle paint job on the Basilisk, as well as some basic conversion work. Truth be told I lost the support piece for the cannon and just decided to weld some nails, washers, and screws together from around my garage. After I finished I decided not to paint over it as it looks like legitimate field repairs for a company that doesn't have the luxury of requisitioning new Bassie parts.

So there you have it! I finally have nearly a full army and I think they'd do a damned fine job supporting the Imperium however they can. Next models to build once I get this pounded out will possibly be some Tauros models and more artillery/tanks, possibly of the WW2 variety... Hope you're enjoying the slideshow! As always, advice, comments, and questions more than welcome!

Well, looks like this may be it for this thread and this project. I must woefully announce that my entire company has been lost, possibly forever to a lowly thief who happened upon the large cardboard box in my car and must have thought it quite a prize.

What bugs me the most is that I'm sure he opened it and went "WTF, toy soldiers?!?!?!!?" I can only imagine that the final fate of the miniatures I put so many hours into converting must be in some garbage dump or backwoods shrubbery somewhere

And so, this may be my last post on this thread as the project is quite possibly over since I had every assembled model and unassembled sprue in that box along with all my modelling tools. I may once again join the ranks of the Guard in the future, and possibly reintroduce my regiment when I have better skill at painting, but all that is left now is the pair of helicopters and the B-17 which happened to be in my room at the time.

At any rate, enough of the griping. I hope you are all having a merry holiday season, and that your fortune in modelling should be better than mine!

Well, crap. Sorry to hear that.

I had all the minis I bought (well, my parents bought) when I was a kid/teenager stolen a few years back. Never a nice feeling, but I was left thinking the same as you - wondering what on earth they thought when they opened the box!

At least you can take it as an excuse to buy even more models next time?

Whookay, it's time to get back to work! Apparently many people around here felt for me as I got a large slew of Cadians at discount prices due to Christmas gift cards to my FLGS. For a while since my stuff was stolen, I was thinking of just leaving it be and doing other things but I have come to the realization that I still need a hobby, damnit! So, while I had plenty of ideas of going and starting Vampire Counts or Brits in Bolt Action or trying Infinity, I figure it's probably best to establish a 40k army since that'll probably be available everywhere I go while other systems seem to be very regionalized.

Without further ado, I now am appropriating this P&M blog to house my new project which begins today. This project is going to be split into two parts. One part utilizes all these standard IG bits I now have, while the other part will later on deal with my previous project in a related way. This is why I am keeping the old information and such on here; it'll be tied in with the second, later part of my current army.

Right! So, the first part. A while back one of my friends suggested the hilarious idea of modelling an IG army entirely of casualties, wounded, and the like. I thought it was entertaining and DID make a casualty or two for my previous army, but never gave it much thought. Now, however, I am swiping his idea and beginning it in earnest; my new army of Guardsmen will be a "Casualty Army!" Yes, it's morbid, yes it's self-depreciating, but oh my is it hilarious

I posted a thread a little while back to bounce ideas off the Dakka community and see how many different ways we can come up with to kill a Guardsman. The general consensus? A lot. So many that on said thread I uploaded a word document that I will be updating as I get more ideas detailing all the different ways that I, my friends, and the community come up with to kill Guardsmen. It won't have EVERY idea thrown to me, but it has 40+ that I think I can pull off without too much hassle. If you'd like to suggest ideas, by all means do so here: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/0/569584.page

And here's a quick blurb as to the first two I've made, to break in my new tools. The Number and Name are meant to be a reference for myself (and I guess everyone else) as to where they are in the document I made.

#15, "Chestburster" Needs a Ripper!

#20, "Close Shave Helmet"

Oh and I guess I forgot to say anything about the second half of my army, the non-casualty section... Well, maybe I didn't forget! You'll just have to wait and see what I come up with!

Alright, it's been a few weeks and I've done a bit of work so here are the meager sacrifices I present to the God of Resin-shed. Khorne's half-cousin thrice removed perhaps?

For now though I'm kinda stuck, I keep having trouble deciding which to do next. I've got plenty of ideas, but keep looking at the list and being indecisive. If any of you would like to make a request, I'm going to upload the list I've made so far of the casualties ideas at the bottom of this post. Just say what you'd like to see and I'll stick that at the top of my list And if you have any ideas you'd like to throw into the list, I'll take what you've got!

A minor update is that hopefully my pictures will be less of an eyesore for the fact that 1) I figured out how the to use my phone's camera correctly which is ironically much higher quality than my digital camera and 2) I have discovered a simple and easy set up for "dramatic lighting" using a warm desk lamp.

What, you thought I was going to say I painted something? Pffft please

On a serious topic, I HAVE been doing some painting, I just haven't taken pictures of them and they're not really up to spec, even for my low standards. At any rate, here's what I have in the way of casualties this week. Next step will be slapping on a basic paint scheme and basing them in snow before working on the gore paint. I think there's something beautiful about the contrast of pure white snow and the viscera of crimson blood, don't you?

And a short little teaser for what's coming along with the second half of my army...

Hope you guys actually get some enjoyment out of this mess of a thread. I'll just keep Ramblin' On.

Sorry to hear about your loss, but this new stuff looks great! Gets my vote for funniest IG army I've seen!

Tiny update this time. I've got plenty of models ready to be turned into pictures, but they're back at home. I have no idea how quickly I'll be slinging paint and greenstuff around in the days to come, I'm driving between two cities for college for two and a half hours twice a week. Ah well, at least I have an idea of what I'm doing now. Here's what I've got at my disposal, though! Another glimpse at the future of the army.

#42: "Deny The Wi-"
I've never cared for Psykers myself. Probably because I've always been on the receiving end of Mind War.

And what the majority of my army is soon to consist of... How's the ghost effect look to you guys? The one on the left was made with rather crappy paints before I grabbed some Citadel paints for the one on the right.
