The additions are way too chunky, in my opinion. If you want to keep the shield faces as they are, I'd saw the back half off before remounting them, to bring the thickness down to a more reasonable level (closer to where your gold paint ends). Similarly, the hammer hafts could do to be half their current diameter, both for aesthetics and the plausibility of actually being held, even in a giant, power armored hand. The heads are pretty crude, too - the rough, uneven cut of the three parts just looks lazy, to the viewer. Taking the time to saw them flush would greatly improve the look, while keeping your current design. I think building a smaller head (assuming a smaller handle, of course) out of a single cylinder or a rectangular prism (layered plasticard, cardboard, or cut down sprue) would look even better, though.
To be blunt, none of the additions are particularly to my liking. They are, however, workable, with a bit more time, effort, and care. If you like the feel of them, it's well worth putting a bit more effort in to make them work.
