Hey all,
I just started a kickstarter after about a years work getting prototypes designed, fabricated, and painted.

Its purpose is to fabricate civilian vehicles for the near and far future sci-fi cities (the ones not totally bombed out).
If any of you are interested head on over or tell your friends!

As a big fan of Infinity, have to say these things look perfect for populating any terrain board.

Take a look at the KS page and scroll down, there are some nice shots there of the actual miniatures.

And, AFAIK this is the only Train/engine miniature producer I know of, as far as the special mission in the Paradiso Campaign book is concerned.

I'll be watching this closely.

As I said in your Infinity Sub Forum thread, although this isn't the aesthetic I normally follow with Infinity I really like what you have done and I'll pledge if I can just to support what you are doing.

I wish you the best of luck, atropos!

Also, you should edit in all those awesome finished models from the other thread so people can see what they look like at a glance.

I'm happy for your kickstarter and live your dream... but these look awful. The styling is terrible, the lighting and photoshop effects are overdone. They look like the trapper keeper artwork you used to see back in the day.

The cars look awful, and have no cohesive look, and don't even have a look of having various factions.

The monocylces look terrible, the ones from Infinity are much better.

Antenociti's Workshop make cars and they look miles ahead of this. I'd buy them if they were a plastic kit, or if they were cheaper.

There's that company that makes a mold of three futuristic cars, and you can buy the cars or the mold. They're undetailed, but they look better than this, just in terms of basic styling.

If I wanted cheap cars I'd just turn computer mice into cars; http://www.matakishi.com/paintingrezolutionfigs.htm

Good attempt, but... I don't think you're gonna make it. Work on your renders, make cars that look like the ones from Antenociti's Workshop, make them available on Shapeways, then try and have a sprue made.

Your advice for "making it" is "Copy someone else"?

Are these vehicles to be made in resin?

I like the lorries and bikes most.

=) Thanks for the sentiment.

His is a common response when one tries to introduce something new and different. its often either wildly accepted or wildly not. Odds are this may be the latter, but if one does not try... you get a bunch of high quality clone shops all making their own slightly different version of WH40k. He presents a very valid point in that if my main market is to be those in the infinity group then I will suffer if I do anything that clashes with their "standard quasi-anime style" My hope is that there are enough people like me who like smoother looking futuristic vehicles, but everyone has their own interpretation of every modifier in that statement. =)

My only counters are.
1. Its a different style and I understand its very risky, hence kickstarter rather than soaking a lot(more) of my own money directly into it.
2. The paint jobs are again my own style and few like it. Often the paint jobs that take me little time or effort are very well received and those that take a lot of thought and skill are very controversial or not well received. Most people like simple, simple bores me to tears.
3. I wanted the backgrounds to be very simple to roughly set scene but not force scene. I however find no problem with the converse in that I find most of the common paint jobs on vehicles boring and unimaginative, but I can see past a paint job to see if I like the cut of a model and look past paint jobs when I buy models. To each his own. people's money will do the talking in the end.
4. Its typically far easier to speak up when your voice is conformative rather than rebellious in any way. I expect many such critiques and I take them for their intended purpose as offering useful advice to make my kickstarter more successful. I have learned to choose to believe most people's comments are fundamentally trying to help..

Ronin, Chris, Thank you for your critiques and advice.

Everyone else thank you for your encouragement to try something different even if you dont agree with my methods or style.
May the world not be completely homogeneous.!

Happy gaming!

After looking at the Kickstarter pledge levels and add on chart, what I'm left with is the following: $3 tax applied if you just want one baby stroller model. Similar tax applied to other singles. :(

You may find simple paint jobs boring, but they help show off the actual vehicle details way better than your current PJ's. (Not that there is anything wrong with these paint jobs, which i do like BTW.) Its just that you're trying to convince people to help fund these vehicles, and some people might be turned off if they can't tell which details are actually part of the original model and which details are just painted on.

Like the idea but i find them simplistic , the detail looks kind of shallow, and one car is just a computer mouse?

Got any in just blank? I like some of them, except for the crazy paint jobs.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

The Switchblade and locked Mustang variant look quite nice. The utility vehicles I'm undecided on. The others, look too simplistic to me, and don't really look like proper vehicles.

I think the physical, unpainted models need to be much earlier on the kickstarter page. You have to scroll down A LOT before you see any unpainted pics.

I hope you do well with it, but the goal seems high for such a niche product. If I had spare cash I'd hop on board, but funds are really tight.

Pledged. I have a ton of Antenociti's Workshop vehicles and these will fit right in.

Right, I've had a good look at the Kickstarter. Let me see if I understand the pledge and pre-ordering correctly.

If I pledge $69 I am entitled to an Armored Train, plus the international shipping of $22.

I can add one each of the other vehicles at the stated price… dah da dah da dash… however much that comes to I haven't calculated so call it X. I have also to add shipping of Y for the extra models

Then my total pledge is 69 + 22 + X + Y dollars.

If the Kickstarter funds fully, my pledge is activated and hopefully at some future point, about Dec 2013 to Jan 2014, I will get a box full of lovely models in the post.

Is that correct?

While, you think the simple paint jobs are boring, if you're trying to get people to take part in the kickstarter, then I think you should try to apeal to the widest possible group.

As it is now, the painted models showcase your painting style WAY more than the models themselves. The goal has to be to sell the models and right now that's not happening. You have to scroll all the way to the bottom of the page to see the un-painted models, but that's what people will be pledging to receive and that's what they have to be sold on before pledging.

I do hope you succeed as there are some nice models in there.

The problem I see is like others have said you have the actual models at the bottom, when you first posted this I was trying to look through and got bored and went on my merry way. Now that people have said you have the models on the bottom of the page I went back and looked and saw that a few of them are really cool. If it wasn't for those people I would have never looked back at the kickstarter page.

You appear to have the idea. Some more detailed examples are here
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1628235004/sci-fi-traffic-hazards-28mm-vehicles-for-the-futur/posts
If international then you use the international chart for addons. It folds a bit more shipping to compensate for jumps in weight and volume. (4lbs, 20lbs, 12", 36")

All models supplied unpainted of course, unless pledging for a painted model .

As for showing pictures sooner that are unpainted, point taken. Ill look into that shortly.

As for the pod car looking like a mouse, yup it sure does! Now I think i want to paint a Japanese fangirl mouse version..... that sounds like fun. =)

Ok
Im working on either finding or casting the missing -non painted-minis to post as it seems enough people think that woudl be a wise move.
In the mean time I added "concept renders" to the end of the video also showing work on a couple stretch goals.

Yeah, definitely need pics of unpainted ones (as I'll be using mine in a warzone so I want to paint mine more hard sci-fi and probably scratch and ding and dirty them up) as the default paint schemes, while nice, won't fit my gaming scenarios.

I'm in for the whole shebang (180 plus some stuff)
