So this is my first ever painted model and I was hoping to get some feed back on how it looks as well as what everyone thinks about my non traditional grey knight paint scheme. Note: I have not yet started on the base havent decided what I want to do there yet.

The basic scheme looks good, much more interesting than boring old sliver GK. You just need a few little improvements to your technique in order to really get it across.
1) The white: Judging from the base of the model you primed it with a white spray, to get some nice depth you should then use a black wash around the crevices in the armour and then
apply a couple of coats of very thin white paint to tidy up, this will give you some nice shading as well as a smooth white finish.
2) The black: It's a bit hard to tell if you've already done this from the picture, but applying a few grey edge highlights around the black parts of the armour will make it seem less flat, if the
highlights look too severe, you can use black wash to tone them down
3) The blue and metal: An appropriate colour wash followed by a few highlights here and there will really help. The metal especially will be easy to highlight as you can just drybrush it.

@professionalamateur: Thanks for the tips. What I did was prime it white like you said then I inked the whole model with a grey white mix and pretty much shaded up the white parts to get more and more white. The black I kinda did what you say there but I used a dark blue to kind of edge a few areas. Ill def go back and touch up some of the details with your suggestions. Ill be sure to add a few pics once I go back to it.
Thanks all for the compliment Im really glad you like the color scheme I def didnt want to field their boring old codex colors. Hopefully I can add some more pics to this soon once I get to the other models and work on my technique a bit I have some really cool (but simple) conversions I did for my warlord and dreadnaughts that I think will look great in this scheme.

Just an FYI for future posts, you should be putting posts like these in the 'Painting and Modelling' Forum. The showcase forum is specifically for completed works (including bases).
As per the first post in this forum:
A few ground rules about posting in this forum:
1) Models must be FINISHED. Complete. Done. Not-Works-In-Progress. You can decide what's finished, and we're not legislating quality here, but if you're still working on it, it goes in either Painting & Modeling or P&M Blogs. The Showcase is where you show off what you've completed and want to wow people with.
2) That means the base too. Some games/lines/types of dioramas might use unpainted/flocked bases, and if that's the case it will undoubtedly still look neat and clean and finished and we'll be able to tell by context. But for most wargaming models a completed model means a completed and nice base too.
3) This is a forum to actually show off pictures, so threads created here must contain at least one picture within the post itself. Simply posting a link to another site without including a picture in the post is not acceptable, and threads like that will be moved to the regular painting and modeling forum.
Thanks!
However, since the model is here, I have to say I like th colour choices! I know someone who did a Sisters of Battle Army in almost the same choices and they look great as a whole army.
Do you water down your paints while you work? I ask only as some of the paint looks thick on the model or chalky (especially hard to avoid with white). But watered down layers will remove that look, and preserve much more detail on the fig!

You've done well, especially with the white, I have so much trouble with that colour.

I am liking it. Keep going, get a few done and see what they look like before you think about the bases, glossing and all that stuff.
Did you spray undercoat? It looks like you sprayed and it has reaced with the molds releasing agent to make the undercoat surface a little fuzzy. ( Plastic figure you should rinse in soapy water + old tooth brush em and rinse in fresh water to get rid of the agent) I've inherited a load of fuzzy undercoated marines and they have worked quite well with lots of layers of paint over the fuzz).

I think any color looks better than the original GK color, if you can even call a solid silver model colored.
Your white, specially around the helmet, looks super thick. Did you paint white on top of white primer, or did it look like that after you primed it?
Your entire model looks textured. The problem might be that you held the can too far away and some of the primer dried before it hit the model and that gives it that grainy textured look.
Since you're just starting out, I'm not going to talk much about techniques like highlighting.
Honestly, I don't like the color scheme. Black and white with a bright blue accent doesn't work in my opinion. I think the blue is what I object to most. I really like the purple blade though.
I think the real problem with the black and white armor is the distribution of the colors. From head to toe, you have...
black & white helmet
white shoulder trim
silver sholder pad
black arms
white hands
black neck
white torso
black abdomen
white pack
white crotch
black thighs
white calves
black shoes
You should try a little more uniformity. Maybe the whole body and legs black, metal helmet and solid silver shoulder pads with white arms and pack.
You may also want to buy a black wash for the metal
