Death-Dealing Devastator

Hi Folks,

Here are the first three finished models for my upcoming chaos army. They are nothing spectacular as I paint mainly to get stuff on the table, but I do take a bit of pride in the work I put into them. Comment, vote, rant or rave but most of all enjoy.

Thanks for the kind words guys. If I get a chance later today i'll try and snap a pic or two of my hellcannon and post them up as well.

Here are a few pics of my chaos hounds and the hellcannon. I've not finished the crew for the cannon yet so they are not in the picture. If you look at the last image you can see magnets for the crew sunk into the sand.

It's been a while since i painted anything for fantasy and decided to do a pair of spawn (for eye of the gods rolls). Since they won't be seeing much action i just did a real fast paintjob on them. The look i was going for, since my army is Khorne themed, is having freshly climbed from a sacrificial pool. Primed them grey, brown wash and then liberally coated in tamiya clear red with some brown and black inks mixed in.

As my army is Khorne themed and didn't want to cripple myself by being fluffy and not using magic, my daemon prince uses the Lore of Death. Here is the marker i'm using if i get to cast a purple sun.

And here is the BSB for my army too.

Some of the effects you've done here are incredible! That blood effect, and the portal thing, wow. One criticism I would have is that the gold is a bit too bright and shiny for me, I'd personally prefer it with a brown wash or something similar, just to tone it down a little, but that's just personal preference. Great job!

The spawn were very quickly done in an evening simply to have them on the table. I primed them grey and then gave them a brown wash as a kind of pre-shading. Once that had dried they were given a healthy coat of Tamiya clear red. Once that had dried I mixed some brown and black inks to the clear red in various proportions and added it where it looked good. The stuff dries glossy so looks wet once dried, job done.

The purple sun was airbrushed which makes things like that relatively simple to pull off. Much easier than trying to wet blend which I am awful at.
