I have started painting a few models previously, but this is the first model that I have painted 100%. I learned a lot. I expect my brush control to get better with time. I need to experiment some with thinning ratios; both for the airbrush and the palette. Overall I am very satisfied with the results. I did learn a few things along the way and am hoping that I will continue to improve.

PLEASE give me some feedback and tips on improvement.

Thanks!

Really nice first completed! I would say tidy up the base a bit and maybe thin down the paint a bit, other than that it's nice

Try to use more colours, and also you're gonna need to learn to highlight! Remember to clean your mild lines. Your lightning looks excellent though! Lastly, add maybe a dot of white to the eyes to simulate a lens reflection!

If you're not going to paint the gravel/sand, then you at least have to paint the base brown before you glue on the gravel/sand.

You'll need to buy some wash so your model doesn't look so flat. A perfect example of this is the metal part of the gun and the left hand. See how the hand is just a solid mass of red without defenition? Like it was made of red plastic? You add wash in there (red or black) to create shadows in between the finger, then you touch up the fingers with the original red. There is an awesome tutorial on oil washes on youtube by Buypainted. Look him up.

I see you tried to highlight the gun with some grey. Good, but don't try to paint on the line like you would with a pencil. You want to run the brush along the edge of the corner, not with the tip, but with the part just below that. It will give you a cleaner, more consistent line.

Also you want to finish painting the metal on the gun. You forgot the muzzle and the sights above.
When I paint, I usually have a picture on my computer of a well painted model that I'm working on and I try to copy it. It's a great way to pick out details that you may have missed otherwise.

All and all, you're off to a solid start. Go to youtube and look up "how to paint Crimson Fist" (or whatever), watch as many as you can, then try those techniques out on your modes.

You're doing too much. The strange color gradient along with the lightning and the red fists is just too busy. Stick with a solid color, an accent color, and a third color if you're feeling crazy. On Crimson Fists this is dark blue for the armor, dark red for the fists and eyes, and white for the chest eagle. You've just got too much going on in the scheme.

That is very good, your first model looks better than my first one did.

I think that you should concentrate on why you want to paint. Are you painting so you can have big armies to play with or just because you want to be a good painter. Or something in the middle. If you have a better idea of what sort of painter you want to be and what sort of task you are trying to achieve then you will have an easier time setting yourself goals that fit in with what you need.

I suggest that you try to sharpen up areas like the eyes and other details. Learn how to do these parts quickly and cleanly but never rush. Rushing leads down the deadly path of shoddy paint-work and is to be avoided. You have a very good start there and the lightning effect on the leg is well done.

I'm almost sure he is painting a Night Lords that has been censured to be (ordered?) killed my Curze himself. Also, I just realised this - try to avoid the same colours(red) on different areas of the armour. It stops people from recognising them as the same 'parts' of armour.

I think he just assumed that ridge behind the right gauntlet was the cuff or some such, even red it works as it could be part of the hand.
