I just can't resist building a battlesuit force. I love the new riptide and the broadsides. It takes me a long while to paint anything and so far all I have is a battlesuit. I'm trying out my own paint scheme. Im going with a dark blue for the base color.

These things are very annoying to chop up and position.

I think you've done incredibly well reposing that Crisis suit. Looks awesome. I'd say the effort definitely paid off.

Thanks mate. You can't see in that picture but where I filled the gaps from cutting the arms and legs into shape the putty work is terribly sloppy. Its good enough for me though. I'm not planning on winning any competitions.

I also had a go at painting some burst cannon glow but I've never tried so it looks terrible.

The lighting affect is very well done. If you have spare cannons try an orange and red/yellow glow and compare the two, see what looks better.

Ask yourself: have you rated a gallery image today?

I have no idea why you say it looks terrible. Sure, it isn't Golden Deamon standard, but it sure looks good! The different heat colours look pretty good and it does look like it has been shooting his burst cannon.

I'm a fan. Lookin' good dude, keep up what you're doing.

Why is it that only those who have never fought in a battle are so eager to be in one?

You sure you're British and not Chinese? All this self-deprecating talk makes me think...

Your conversion isn't Golden Daemon standard, but it looks at least three times as good as the standard Crisis Suit, and a metric buttload better than the crappy ragdoll poses most people give their suits. Not to mention, it's also painted. That's more than half the playerbase can claim to have. There are days where I almost want to refuse playing unpainted armies...

The burst cannon is actually a very good job for a first try, blending colors like that is a difficult skill and most people rely on airbrushes to do it. Keep at it, once you get good your models will make errybody jealous. I'd personally suggest adding a darker highlight atop the brighter areas to contrast the lighting there. Simulating shadows (for example, behind the part that holds the barrels together) can also add depth.

Some highlighting will help a lot with bringing up the dark basic colours.

If you want a firing look to the cannon, you could use a flame effect like the Armorcast add-ons.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

Wow I love the effects from that site. I am definitely going to try some shading and highlights. Thanks for the tips guys. I may have more pic updates in a few days. If I get time to work on some.

Some highlighting will help round out the figure and maybe making the "eye" a brighter red so it comes out a little more.

The rest looks great, love the effect on the burt cannon

As someone who has almost tried to position my crisis suits dynamically. I can say I am glad I have the ork shoulder pads that look like plate to cover up the parts where I cut the leg off and then had to reposition it. But they are a blast to paint.

This is a good P&M blog to check out http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/494148.page

He has an awesome idea of covering up marks with the shoulder pads from fire warriors.

Also since it seems like you would probably enjoy documenting this, I suggest you make your own Painting and Modeling Blog I would love to follow it and see what ideas you have and maybe share some of my own.

Thanks for the positive feedback guys. I would like to make it a blog but I only use internet on my phone so it limits my capabilities and I don't even know how to. Haha. Plus I fear progress would be painfully slow as I get little time to work on my modelling. But if someone can tell me how to make it into a blog I probably will.

Nice color scheme! I'm going to be assembling and painting my first tau models as soon as they come in the mail!
Its going to be my first time trying any of this so I'm pretty nervous.

You just go over to Dakka P&M blogs (its a forum in the same catagory as this one) and start a new post, then just keep posting to it. A little bit of text and your painting/modeling adventures.) Here is a link to my humble and small P&M blog
