Hi Everybody!

I am new here and just wanted to introduce myself to everyone. I have been painting and playing 40k for 11 years. My first introduction to the game was the Index Astartes articles that gave histories of the original 18 legions. I was an avid Chaos Legion player during the lifespan of Codex: Chaos Space Marines 3.5 but fell away from the game when the codex was shelved in 2007. Now that the original 18 Legions are finally getting the love that they desereve from Forgeworld I am returning full force to Warhammer 40k, or rather Warhammer 30k.

The first Legion that I am currently building is the Death Guard. Here is the first Tactical Sauad I have built and painted:

Enjoy!

Very nice

What a way to make a first post too. Love the deathguard, will you be doing anything along the lines of painting one arm red as a nod to their pre crusade army the dusk raiders?

LOL, Theo your mind is an amazing place, never change.-camkierhi 9/19/13

That's some nice paintwork & weathering.

I do have one question, though, which comes up from the last picture - is there a reason why the green shoulder pad isn't consistently on one side?

This is, emphatically, why I will continue suggesting nuking Guard and starting over again. It's a legacy army that needs to be rebooted with a new focal point.

Confirmation of why no-one should listen to Kanluwen when it comes to the IG - he doesn't want the IG, he want's Kan's New Model Army...

Thanks for your praise. To answer your question, the marines either have all green shoulder pads or all white pads. The angles of the photos makes it look like some of them might have mixed color pads.

I have some more updates for your viewing pleasure, a pair of Death Guard Contemptor Dreadnoughts:

The angle of the plasma gun in the fist in that first Contemptor shot made me think it was some sort of weird smiley face at first... nope, plasma gun!

Love the paint job so far, shall watch for more!

Just a handful...

I have another update for my Death Guard. Here are ten Destroyer Marines with one Moritat. It took me a while to come up with a color scheme that I felt fit with the fluff of having burned armor. Overall I am happy with the result even though it took about three tries to get it right.

I like the destroyer scheme, even if most destroyers are supposed to be black. It really looks more soot and heat-burnt covered than merely black armour.

Check out my plog here

Thanks. That is exactly what I was going for.

I have quick update for today. Here is my kitbash / conversion for Crysos Morturg. He is a loyalist special character for the Death Guard who in the fluff often leads Destroyer Marines into battle. He is also one of the two (known!) survivors of Istvaan III. Enjoy!
