Not sure whether to stick with this. I want the finished models to tie in with my mainly black legion army, but stand out from the rank and file csm's.

I think it looks pretty good so far, what do your rank and file marines look like?

Was that intentional or too much metallic left in the brush rinse water/brush?

Back in the day, Citadel's "Shining Gold" had a bit of a greenish tint to it that they don't make anymore.. It's what I use for top level highlights on gold, but I think some touches of that along the metal edges/top areas, could look really good... Now... I'm not sure what the equivalent to that metallic would be. Maybe someone familiar with the other paint ranges out there can help me out on that... maybe Vallejo Model Color: Old Gold?

I should specify that it provides good highlight shine and you don't get the greenish tint too much if using it that way.

It is intentional I'm happy to say. Screaming bell mixed 10:90 with water and dried as fast as possible with a hairdryer.

Second raptor now started. Base coated and basic shading done. I know raptors aren't really supposed to have two close combat weapons, but it looked so cool with them I thought " what the heck"

Ok. Got these 3nearly finished and the last 2 to go.
Still a bit twitchy about the amount of metallic on them, but as I've come this far I' going to go with it.
Encountered a strange side effect of the technique I used though. The gold seems to shift to a red tint under certain light. Not sure if it shows up on the pics but would be interested to know if anyone else has had this happen.

Not had much spare time this week, but managed to get my plasma gunner pretty much done.
Just need to finish his jump pack and sort the highlights
