As per usual I'm having an indecisive night!

I'm not sure which model to use as my squad leader, both are modelled with blue tac at the moment. Which one would you use?

United kingdom (derby)

Helmet less I'm not sure why but all my sergeants are helmet less

Helmet for squad sergeant, bare head for combat squad leader. Usually no helmet = higher rank, but the helmeted guy just has a much more authoritative look, especially with the sculpted laurel.

Top one. I always use the fanciest bit for veterans. I like that laurel wreath head.

Thanks guys, I'm going with the top one but I'll change the bare head to a helmet as well as it's only tacked in.

Here they are primed, well almost as I ran out of red!

What do we think about using the sang guard shoulder pad? I'm not sure it 'fits'.

Not sure on Blood Angels fluff but could the squad leader have been in the sanguinary guard prior to promotion. Looks good anyways and certainly gives him the look of more authority.

Chosen Men, are you? Well, I didn't choose you.
It's very hard to trust a man who wants to borrow your pick-lock, sir.

What a coincidence, I also used Sanguinary Guard shoulders for my custom Sternguard. Mine were Ultramarine veterans though, so I simply shaved off the iconography on the shoulders and clipped off the hanging blood drop jewel. I figured I could either paint the wings gold since Sternguard have lots of gold ornaments, or I could paint them white like the Blood Angels do, since white matches the Ultramarines 1st Company colors.

Notice how even the Ultramarine Sternguards have wings on their shoulders, so I don't see why the winged shoulder pad would be out of place.

I think it'd work.

Thanks really helpful, in the end I decided against the winged shoulderpad, mainly because I was having to chop the top off some to fit, also I was inspired the crux terminus.

So I'm swapping the left shoulder pad for crux's and BA ones.
