Here is one of my monstrous cavalry bases for my chaos army. I felt the bases needed a little something extra as they looked pretty barren with just the odd rock or two on there and thought some greenery might be what was needed. What does dakka think, should I not bother using any, leave it that colour or find another colour of tuft to suit the basing theme?

I've never been a big fan of adding things to bases other than basic flock. Try mounting the model on the base, snapping a few photos and reposting. That way we can get a feel for what the model looks like as a whole piece.

Looks like a good nice base with just a hint of color.

My question to you is, arnt fantasy bases all squished together into movement trays where you can barely see them?

It's only the larger bases that get any added decoration other than sand. They would be rather boring without the rocks to break it up.

I've not finished painting the models yet, once i do i'll get some pics posted for those interested.

Does the tuft fit the base though? I'm not sure if it's too lush looking for the style of the base.

I think the tuft looks perfect. you could look for some dead/burned grass flocking (or static grass) and add a scant amount of that on the foreground of the base I would think. Even another tuft wouldn't make it too busy if you really wanted.

Bit of dried grass that looks like it was plucked out of my lawn? Looks perfect on the base!
