Have never watched any Gundam myself so I don't know if he is the colours of any particular one so I suppose he's more Optimus Prime than anything but when I was painting him in store some one kept shouting "Gundam" at him while I was painting away

I'm going to give you a 5/10. Not a bad job for banging it out in a day, but you defnitely have some areas you can improve on.

First off, I'm not sure if it's supposed to be a lighter color, or if you just didn't paint parts of the model, but it looks as if there is some gray peeking through, namely on the ion accelerator and back of the shield. That's really the big thing that stuck out to me.

Other than that, your paint looks a bit splotchy (I'm not sure if that was intentional or not), and there are some areas that could use a touch-up over errant brush-strokes.

Your edge-highlighting isn't bad, though, and I think the feet look great. I will say, though, it really doesn't scream Gundam at me, so I'm not sure why somebody would shout that at the model...

Thanks for the comments I am as I said always looking to improve and I do want to go back over and make some improvements to this guy so thanks for pointing them out.

The splotchy effect I got from just using one layer of thinned down blue that I used for the body and I kind of liked it so stuck with it, the back story behind my tau is they aren't fresh out of the factory they've been fighting for years in harsh jungles and marine environments.

And yeah my edge highlighting is something I've just started doing so it is a work in progress but this is one of the best I've done so far have got more suits to work on though so I know ill improve!

Thanks!

Also with the grey that's actually the primer I used, like I said though I do want to go back over and make some improvements to this guy so will go over them with some nice ice blue I think to add some more definition to the weapon and shield.

Ok, please take this as constructive criticism. The model looks very much like it was a huge rush job, and I know you did state that at the start but for a model this impressive, I think it deserves a little more love.

I see a few mold lines and even chunks of sprue that weren't removed prior to assembly. Also seeing the barrels weren't drilled out on the plasma rifles, but that's a purely nit-picking thing as not everyone does it.

The painting I will not be harsh on, as I know everyone has their limits, but a couple simple things to watch for.

Whether intentional or not, their appears to be several unpainted parts, mostly inside cracks and channels on the armour/weapons. Even a wash into these would go along way, though actually getting paint in them would be ideal.

The edge highlighting is fine by me, a bit broad in areas, but on a model this size, thats ok.

Take another day and do some small touch-ups and clean up on the model and I think it will be a knock out!

Finally, I like the shoulder mounted weapons and assume you have magnetized them? I magnetized 4 crisis suits this week (4 mounting points per model) and about 40 weapons, magnets rule!!!

Your pallette choice does not lend itself well to being likable in any way. There are mold lines and gate marks that are clearly visible.

The highlighting on the body legs and head are nice but not enough to redeem the reprehensible scheme. I really dislike the weapon being up on the shoulder like that. It seems really impractical and top heavy.

The base is alright, but nothing too impressive. The vegitation looks forced and artificial.

Yeah, that's magentized. Two pictures show the gun on two different shoulders and you can see the magnet on the empty shoulder.

My question for the OP: Did you undercoat the model with a base primer? The big issue your painting has is the uneveness of the paint coats. This is allowing whatever is underneath to show through and it really takes away from the model. The light source you're using when taking the pictures isn't doing you many favors either, however. I would recommend in the future to use a more ambient source instead of such a directed, point source. That way the light doesn't absoultely pick out all of your flaws.

Cheers for all the comments and critiques guys I will be going back to this guy and doing some touch up work and will repost after I've done em.

He was under coated with a light grey primer which is why it looks like perhaps he hasn't been, and yeah the lighting at the time was all I had but ill find something better for next time.

Thanks again and have taken everything on board.

The reason the weapons mounted on the jet pack is cos I just wanted something different from everyone else's I like to do little bits like that just to make my models a bit more individual all down to personal taste in the end
