So hi all, so I'm Starting an army of my favourite Imperial guard regiment, the Armageddon Steel Legion! So anyway this is my test paint for the Scheme, the Coat is Steel Legion Drab the pouches are Bestial Brown and the metal is Leadbelcher all washed with 1:1 of Null oil and Devlin Mud.
so here are some pics, tell me what you think!

Really like the muted look. I would definitely have a light colored basing to really highlight the model itself. If you go dark on the base, the mini is just going to look like a big, dark blob.

Great model and the muted paint job works well.
Personally I think they would look fantastic on rubble bases as opposed to snow (but that's just my opinion).

I agree on a grey base for contrast reasons. Whatever you use for the base (unless it's snow) you might consider some light pigments of the same shade on his boots/knees to make him look like he's actually been tramping around in it.
I use volcanic ash to base my minis and I always hated that sometimes I didn't get all the ash off the feet of the miniature until one day one of my friends saw one that I hadn't wiped it off yet and said "Wow, that looks really cool". So now, only the Officers and Commissars get the "polished boot" treatment.

Yeah I do the same thing with my chaos marines, I use stir land mud for their bases, and I deliberately put paint onto their legs, realy makes them look like they have actualy trudging through a swamp.
