I've started putting my old scavvies back together. I've still got 10 of the original models (a couple have been lost over the aeons since I last played) and I need to fleece the numbers out. These are the first two scratch built scavs I've made, one with a sword and handbow and another with a blunderbuss and flail. In the next couple of days I'm buying the new Chaos Cultists boxed set for 40k for more parts (they practically look like scavvies just as they are). If I had the money I'd like to also buy some Vampire Counts and Beastmen bits.

I'll put up pics of my other scavvies as I bang them out if anyone is interested.

Heh heh, no but I can see how you'd think Mordheim what with the blunderbusses and bows etc. Scavvies were from Necromunda, they were inbred, cannibal, radiation mutants living in the trash and filth of the lowest depths of the hivebottom. They mostly only had access to crude, scratch-built weaponry like blunderbusses, muskets, handbows, and shotguns, as opposed to the high tech equipment of more well-off gangs from further up in the hive. They made up for it in numbers and being able to field a variety of mutants with special abilities. I played mordheim a bit too back in the day, it was really fun, I'd like to get back into that as well now that you mention it.

Never seen actual scavvy models before! We all play Necromunda with a hodge-podge of whatever looks good. (These look pretty good!)

The models look really sweet! Great cannibal-hobo vibe on 'em. Their bases seem really vibrant for scavvies, though. Still, I like the fallen leaves/wildflower look. Did you use the Galeforce 'fallen leaves?' Or are the red bits rocks? They look sweet!

Thanks a lot. Yeah I know they look quite vibrant, but when I've done the whole gang some of them will also have bits of scrap metal on their bases, and a few will have pools of odd-coloured slime. I was using fake vegetation because in my mind my gang holes up in a damp and humid fungus grotto that formed in the collected sediments of what used to be an old wastewater cistern (so It's relatively verdant as far as the underhive goes). If I can make some believable mushrooms to put on some the bases so much the better.

The red gravel on the bases are small red pebbles/grains although I can't actually say what they are. I was exploring around a lake near my house where, years ago, there used to be a sand-dredging operation. There are still piles of sand, old sheds, and even a few broken down dredging boats laying by the shore. After playing around in the boats I explored some of the sheds and found several bags of small, red, stone-like grains. I figured they'd make a neat base flock so I took them. Unfortunately none of the bags have any writing on them so I've no way of finding out what they are and where I can get more when the ones I've got run out. I've just finished a third scavvy, I'll put him up soon.

My most recent scratch builds. Two finished and a mutant that I'm just about to paint. Gangs coming along nicely I reckon.

Those are some nice Scavvies. I think the first two need a few more "sci-fi' touches to avoid looking too medieval, but the latter ones (possibly because they have more immediately visible grenades and the like) are just fine. Some IG entrenching tools would be great weapons, too!

Cheers. Yeah some IG stuff would go well, but I've never played IG so I don't have that much in the way of parts. I've recently bought a few of the new Chaos Cultists 40k models. They've got a great future-savage look and with a little conversion work should make good Scavvies.
