Plasma Pistols are almost always a waste of points, but style points for your CCS since he can fire both in the shooting phase per the BRB. That means you are getting 10 Plasma shots at 12" from out of the Chimera, which is hilarious. I don't think its worth 30 points for those extra shots mind you, but if you *really* want to splurge for fun then that's up to you. Once you get past 750 you generally want to consider taking more Troops. Instead of Veterans, which are costing you 200 points without the Chimera, consider an Infantry Platoon. They can take 0-2 Special Weapon Squads. These squads are 6 Guardsmen and 3 Special Weapons. So instead of 100 points for 3 BS4 Meltaguns, you can spend 65 points for 3 BS3 Meltaguns. They can't buy a Transport themselves, but since one is going into the Vendetta you only have to worry about the one. Since you wanted it in a Chimera, you could buy a Chimera for an Infantry Squad (since you have to take 2 Infantry Squads in a Platoon) and combine the Infantry Squad. The Infantry Squad can then provide some fire support with Lascannons/Autocannons. Your Platoon Command Squad can also be put on arson duty and give them 4 Flamers. It is cheap, and you can fire all 4 from a Chimera. 4 S4 Templates will upset even Space Marines, just from the volume of wounds. Against other armies, they'll be upset because of the AP5 just wrecking the unit you burninated. Finally, I'd find 10 points to get Heavy Bolters on the Vendetta. Its worth it! Its great for taking out heavy infantry, especially Terminators, but at this point level they'll be so few in number that you can overwhelm them with volume fire. Basic plan for this list is to have your Infantry Squads combine into two units. Your PCS and SWS in Chimeras advance forward, and possibly one of your Infantry Squads run up after them, behind screened by the AV12 Chimeras. Your CCS stays back and shoots out the top of the Chimera with its BS4 Lascannon while you issue BID to the other Infantry Squad so they have two Twin-Linked Lascannons. Your other SWS still goes on the Vendetta like the Veterans would have. But now you have 6-8 scoring units instead of just 2. You also have 4 Chimeras and 5 Lascannons for long range fire support until the Vendetta gets in. The Flamer PCS should be able to flush out most infantry units. Anyways, food for thought! Your list as is can work, but it does have a third the bodies compared to mine (and while you lose two Leman Russ Tanks, my list still is only down 1 vehicle). Some match ups will just hurt more than others. For example, a GK or Deathwing list played at 1000 points might be a bit much for 20 Veterans. 66 Guardsmen and over a dozen Flamers however will really hurt them and their small number of models.
