This blog will feature my current project. A Tyranid army with conversions making them look like insects vs an army of Scythes of the Emperor. This project is more of a modelling project however I may play some games with the armies in the future. I am working on both armies at the same time so there will be lots of different models being painted at once. This is my first army of SM so it would be great if anyone has any feedback or ways i could improve my painting. Anyway heres some pics of what I have achieved so far. So far all models are at various stages of completion I still have battle damage to add to the Scythes, the Swarmlord need lots more work and I need to read up more on how to paint vehicles before I do anymore work on the Rhino.

Thanks for looking. Fluff and updates to follow.

Welcome to the forum firstly! The models look good, big fan of the Nids scheme, the blue contrasts awesomely with the dark flesh and chitin. The Scythes also look great, the yellow is really crisp and even. Only pointer is watch out for those mould lines on those marines! They take away from otherwise great miniatures, looking forward to more.

That swarmlord is awesome mate. Really like the colour scheme. the blue contrast really well. Want to bring my stuff but its a right state at the minute. Might just bring the dreadknight to finish if you want to meet up to paint one day when Im back. Better than your old one in my opinion.

Looking good mate, I've got a soft spot in my heart for the Scythes of the Emperor, so I'll be subscribing to this.

Oh, I absolutely love when people paint their SMs with less famous Chapters! Keep up the great work!

Another update. I have taken a few photos of some of the models I have completed so far (iphone so not great quality). I am currently working on some more gaunts and genestealers. Updates to follow. I have loads of models to paint but struggling to find time with work. I have bought a storm eagle for the scythes as encouragement to finish some of the smaller stuff. As always models are not complete, I need to add battle damage to the tactical marines, add some small parts to the swarmlord and finish off all of the bases. Any comments and advice always welcome. Cheers

I'm really liking your nids. You've gone for a nice dark earthy hive fleet much like my own, maybe they are related!
I for one would love to see some more detailed photos of these when you have the means to do so.
Keep up the good work and lets see those tyranids expand.

Very impressive! I like seeing a high-contrast scheme on Space Marines, and the weathering on the Dread is particularly good. Don't slow down!

WIP Scythes of the Emperor Rhino. First attempt at painting a tank. I think I may have been too liberal with the weathering powder. Loads left to finish including weathering on the tracks, details on the storm bolter and painting the scythes symbol. Any critique and advice welcome as Ive only ever painted nids before.

Final update: WIP Venomthrope. Model still has loads of bits that need touching up. As you can see I have converted the model slightly. Ive used a bit more of a vibrant purple for the flesh parts, still not sure if a like it. I am hopefully going to add a few rippers to the base. Again any critique and advice always welcome. Thanks.

A quick WIP shot of the Scythes. Also any advice as to improving how these photos look in the post would be great.
