I bought a bottle of Vallejo Model Color labeled "Red" (70.926). Eyeballing it, I thought it looked a lot like the old Citadel "Red Gore" and should be a good match...

Wow, no from looking at these color charts that "Red" looks like and matches all the Browns! And the color it says does match "Red Gore" is actually a brown... Haha, do I have some sort of Red-Brown color blindness??

Any suggestions for a "Red Gore" like red? Or, anyone with experience with Vallejo colors have any input about this "Red"? It might look much different painted on the model?

Plus down the road I think I might want to use this in an airbrush for vehicles... any suggestions for Vallejo Air Reds? They don't seem to match many of the Model Color line.

Game Color Gory Red is essentially an exact match. I've used it a good bit fro an airbrush as well. Thinned slightly with a water/Windex mix and it goes on perfectly.

Thanks helotaxi!

I also saw a couple places around the interwebs where they did use the color I bought... more more for shading. Here is one example:

This one looks pretty good highlighted with citadel blood red:

Anyways, If I don't take your suggestion (which looks like a good one!) the Game Color and Model Colors are pretty easy to thin down and use in an airbrush? I don't *need* Model Air, from what I've read, but will it make life that much easier?

Don't know. Haven't used the Air Color stuff. I've only used the Game Color and Surface Primer (great stuff BTW).
