Put away your 40k Pokedex, this monster is completeley custom! I sculpted this out of Super Sculpey, working on it off and on for about 4 days. I made this to enhance a swamp terrain I wanna do.
Still dont have any minis to use for scale. Summers coming though, and I will have some extra money to start buying 40k again. Im calling him an Alpha Tree Frog, Alpha because of his size, and I plan on making similar smaller ones.. The horns on his head are going to be painted to look like small tree branches, and the spikes on his back like jagged bark. Im not sure about the colors yet for the rest of the frog. I want something bright since the swamp terrain will have alot of dark colors. Maybe some purples, or yellows. Im open to suggestions on the colors. I wanna use water effects resin to cover the bottom of him about 1.5in of the way up, hence why I didnt give him feet I just plan on covering up any way.. I want him to look like hes sitting in shallow swamp, and his mouth opens so big he catches some of the swamp water as well as whatever hes trying to eat.
This is my first time ever making a sculpture. Ive been drawing for years, but never thought I could do something like this. It was awesome. I had alot of fun making him, and plan on making other monsters. To make the frame I balled up some aluminum foil in the shape I wanted, then I rolled out a flat piece of sculpey to cover him. I made sure the sculpey was an even thickness so I wouldnt have high, and low spots. The legs, teeth, tongue, eyes, horns, spine, and frog bumps were all applied after I covered the aluminum foil. Most of his bulkiness is from the aluminum. I only used about 4 milimeters thick worth of sculpey to cover him. I used to think a clay sculpture was entirely made of clay, but its not. Saves alot of clay.. I also used wire from an old notebook in his teeth, horns, and tongue to make them stronger (I can pick him up buy his tongue). I dont have a scale, but I think he weighs a little less than a pound. I shouldve posted some WIP pics when I started, but I thought he was going to look like pile of crap. Sorry guys. There will be more monsters though, and plenty of pics so everybody can follow along.
The frog is still a WIP. I still have to mount him on somed MDF and build up the swamp around him, and I will be taking pics and updating on the progress. I gotta borrow a jig saw from a friend to cut the MDF, and cant do anything until then. I might even make a mold, and cast a few of them. Depends on how much feedback I get.
Thanks for looking, I love comments and suggestions.

Great job, that is going to look really good emerging from a murky swamp.

Ive never seen those before! Wish I had, I like how they did the toad skin. Oh well. I plan on doing a bull frog type monster sometime, and Im going to copy that skin. Right now Im thinking about making tadpoles out of polymer, and puting them in clear acylic balls for frog eggs. Thanks to Depraved for the tadpole idea.
