This is the start of my own warhammer 40k and war gaming experience, and I'd like to share that with you.
Any hints, tips and advice, critiques are encouraged.
First pictures of current minis and workspace to follow shortly.

Here are the first forces;
They're all bought from ebay premade and base coated.
I used them to get a feel for brushes, how paint works when thinned and general getting to grips with putting paint on.
Once I get a definitive style down for shading/ hi lighting and such, I'll strip the tac marines and re do them.

Any tips on taking photos? lighting etc.

Thanks guys.

First mini i ever painted. I love the stocky, ponderous strengh of Dreads.

[Thumb - DSCF3710.JPG]
It came with this flamer, but i disliked it, so i yanked it out, hence the holes in the shoulder. Not too fussed.

AOBR termies. Not even attempted the sarges face haha.

The Tactical Marines. Had ten, but lost one to the underworld of my desk (Emperor preserve him). I tried red bolters first just to see what they'd look like, but i think I'll go with the black colour thats in at the moment.

This one lost his bolter in a paint pot collision, hence the 'come at me bro!'. I use him for testing out washes and such.

My current workspace. Upgrading with a lamp to paint better at night.

So, I've got nearly all the mini's off sprue, cleaned up and ready for priming, just scouting for some decent stuff (thinking plasikote from my local hardware shop).

Planning to convert the bikes and tac marines into regular ultras.

Termies and characters still on sprue. Think i'll save them for when I have more skill with a brush.

Thanks for looking.

PS. is this the right place for this on the forum? Should it be in a blog or article or something?

The ravenwing bikes, stripped of wings and most of their da icons. left the ones on the head and weapons as they werent overt.

All minis done, just waiting for primer and liquid green stuff and i'll get cracking with painting these bad boys.

Marines are going to be Ultramarines, with the exception of Company master, who I I really dislike so I may not bother with him at all.

Chaos is chaos, no two ways about it. still thinking of a colour palate for them.

Got a bunch of bits coming from ebay soon so I may be kitbashing some peeps together to bulk out my HQ choices, we'll see. I have this though of using the ravenwing bike wing bits as some form of storm shield if I can work them out.

Space Marines, mostly done, just need to get backpacks and bolters ready

Seem to be missing an auto pistol from a cultist, but i'll make do.

Also, found a local stockist of P3, which exites me, as they are cheaper and bigger then GW (the only other mini store I can find within easy reach) so I'll be investing in some of those in time. Thoughts on P3 in general?
