Right I'm near to finishing my IF Storm Talon, no I haven't done any conversions to it as i like the body as it is. shame about the turret mounted cannon. But given I play tournaments and would be denied my 360 LoS (due to wysiwyg) I wasn't about to loose that.

However since it is the centre piece to my army along side the 2 Vindicators (DUE TO THIS I'm attempting the hard edging technique see the attached photo feed back would be nice) I'm trying to decide what to do with the base itself, and had the idea of an old ruin I've got with a squad of Guards men on top of it with orks around the actual flight pole (the ones who look like they are running) what do people think and what have they done with theirs

Making a change to the model should never, ever change its rules. If you don't like the chin turret, and instead changed it to something that wasn't a turret or even chin mounted but the model still had the weapon shown for WYSIWIG purposes, doesn't ever at all change the fact that rules wise it has a chin mounted turret with a 360 degree arc.

People that argue otherwise are just being fething dumb and should be avoided at all costs. Even TO's who rule their tournaments that way.

On topic: my flyers all have scenic bases like this one:

ahh well I actually asgree with the way my local TO's run the WYSIWYG as it prevents people screwing models up to much up stuff too much IMO

Pergrine thats the kind of thing im thinking of but on a larger scale as its the large oval bases that go with the talon

I just used a bunch of Tamiya barrels:

Had to carefully tape the peg so I didn't cover it in paint.

Check out my gallery here
Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!

That's actually a 120mm round base, so larger than the standard flying base (same length as the long axis, but round instead of oval).

My apologies it looks hell of a small that was all may not be getting as many guard on as i was thinking unless i bunch them up on the raised floor of the ruin

Like a last stand of a squad, relaying Infomation back the high command as the imperial fists run a Recon to confirm their information

that looks awesome tho im sticking with the infantry theme as my talon is anti-infantry

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Here are 2 pics of the ruin going on the front end, with the landing level facing the flight pole.

The whole concept I'm using, I came up with from reading about guard standing shoulder to shoulder with Fist at one hive city or another during an Ork Waaaaagh and acts of heroism making Dorn choose to recruit from the worlds population future generations.

But obviously using the more modern twist of having the storm talon doing a Recon run

The facing the flight stick, with the Sergeant and comms officer on top and as many men as I can on top, and then men on the bottom with ammo packs removed andput ina running position towards the orks

My Storm Talon was based to be themed with the tournament bike army it was bought for. I think it's always good to have a dead model from your own army somewhere on the battlefield, brings good luck.

Precisely why the bases of all my Elysian flyers are going to have Elysian dead/dying/struggling to live, well, mainly because I didn't find it appropriate to base them with Chaos when I might be fighting an Eldar army, and then it just looks plain weird to me.
